Terre Haute Halloween in 2019

The Wabash Valley loves Halloween. In fact, we love it so much that we have TWO nights of official city trick or treating (click HERE for dates and times). On top of that, several local organizations host amazing (and mostly free) Halloween events! You can find all sorts of seasonal fun in this 2019 guide to Halloween in Terre Haute including pumpkin parties, not-so-spooky fun, and trunk or treat in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley. This guide is constantly being updated throughout the month of October, so check back often and let us know if there’s something we missed!

Halloween Week Events for Terre Haute Area

Tues Oct 29. Frights Night at the ISU bookstore. Join us for an extra spooky time at the ISU Bookstore! We have all kinds of ghoulish things to do, and they’re all FREE! We’ll be having a boxing ring, a selfie station, poke-a-pumpkin (with your choice of school supplies, discounts, or candy as prizes), face in a cookie, spooky coloring, a tic tac toe station, as well as a skull hunt on campus (prize list TBA). Hot chocolate and popcorn are free for the event as well. We’ll also be having a pumpkin decorating contest with frighteningly good prizes!

Tues Oct 29. 9:30 a.m. Tot Time: Pumpkin Science at Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Beware! This is going to get messy! Tot Time is an interactive, educational program for children ages 2-5 and their caregiver. Registration required. Included in admission.

Tues Oct 29. 6:30 -8 pm. Trick or Treat with Harrison’s Crossing. Calling all goblins and ghouls! Throw on your best costume, grab a treat basket, and head to our spooktacular event. Attendees will enjoy a night of wicked fun with our residents.

Tues Oct 29. 6:00-8:00 pm. Community Trunk or Treat at Cobblestone Crossings Health Campus. Calling all goblins and ghouls! Throw on your best costume, grab a treat basket and join us for our spooktacular event! In our Villa Community, attendees will enjoy Trunk-or-Treating, and refreshments will be available in our Haunted Clubhouse!

Tues Oct 29. 6:00 p.m. Griffin Bike Park Short Track Series. Tuesday night racing! On our new and ever changing short track. Want to try racing bikes? Or just come out and have a good time. This is the series for you! Halloween theme with prizes for best costumes. $10 registration fee.

Wed Oct 30 and Thur Oct 31. Halloween Tree at American Rental in Terre Haute. We will have a Halloween Tree with candy for any Trick or Treaters that DARE to stop by for a SCARE!

Wed Oct 30. Trunk or Treat at Once Upon a Child. Once Upon A Child Terre Haute is hosting its first Trunk or Treat! 6-8p. Get treats from area businesses & see Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol!

Wed Oct 30. 5:00 p.m. Community Trunk or Treat at Forest Park in Brazil, IN. This is a community wide trunk or treat event. We will have games, entertainment, food, pictures and of course candy.

Wed Oct 30. 5:00 p.m. City of Clinton Trunk or Treat. Please bring your children dressed in their Halloween costume to collect candy and treats! We look forward to seeing you there!

Wed Oct 30. 5:30 p.m. West Branch Halloween Party & Book Giveaway. All Ages: Stop by the West Branch Library while trick-or-treating. Create a Halloween-themed craft, enjoy some tasty treats, and receive a new book.

Wed Oct 30. 6:00 p.m. Silver Birch Trunk or Treat. Stop by and see the staff and residents of Silver Birch of Terre Haute for some great tricks…. and treats!

Wed Oct 30. Trunk or Treat at Church of Christ. Annual safe Trunk or Treat with free Hot Dogs on the grill

Wed Oct 30. 6:00 p.m. Zombie Night hosted by Maryland Community Church. Calling all students 6th-12th You and your friends are invited to compete in an epic game where capture the flag meets tag, meets hide ‘n seek, meets amazing race, meets nerf wars, meets zombie apocalypse! It’s Survivors VS Zombies to capture the cure!

Thurs Oct 31. 11:15 a.m. Munch & Mingle Happy Halloween at Vigo County YMCA. Sweet Treats and Stews for all hallows eve. Wear your halloween-best for a costume judging contest! Join for Bingo during our themed monthly pitch-in lunches just $2. Non-members can join for the price of a day pass ($8 adult/$5 youth) and the $2 event fee.

Thurs Oct 31. 3:00 p.m. Trick or Treat at Clinton Public Library Stop in for some treats (or tricks) Halloween night! CPL will be passing out candy for all trick-or-treaters!

Thurs Oct 31. 5:00 p.m. Trick or Treating at Honey Creek Mall.

Thurs Oct 31. 5:00-7:00 pm. Trick or Treat at The Meadows shopping center.

Thurs Oct 31. 6:00 p.m. Annual Harvest Party at Terre Haute Foursquare Gospel Church. Free food, games, cake walk, bounce house and more. Lots and lots of candy. Ages toddler thru elementary and their families.

Thurs Oct 31. Trunk or Treat with the Terre Haute Torpedoes. Come trick or treating with the Terre Haute Torpedoes in the parking lot!

Thurs Oct 31. 8:00 p.m. Halloween Party at V.F.W. Post 1127.

Thurs Oct 31. Trunk or Treat with Mental Health America. Drugs are spooky! Join us for our Halloween Bash. Grab some candy, pledge to be drug free, go on hayride, and learn about having positive mental health!!

Thur Oct 31. Trick or Treat with Sewer Lair Toys. Bring in your little ones dressed up in their favorite Halloween Costume on Thursday October 31st from 6pm-8pm for trick or treating. We will be giving out full size candy bars! Yes, that is correct, FULL SIZE CANDY BARS! No purchase necessary. Limit 1 per child. Supplies are limited, so when we run out, we’ll be out! Sorry adults, this is for the kiddos only. Hope to see you then!

Sat Oct 5. 1:00-6:30 p.m. (CDT). Halloween Frolic at Lincoln Trail State Park in Marshall, IL. Campers Only. Trick or Treat | 3:00 PM-5:00 PM, Games in Plainview | 6:00 PM (3 legged race, horse shoes, egg & spoon), Pumpkin Painting in Plainview | 6:00 PM, Costume Contest at Plainview | 7:00 PM

Sat Oct 12. 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Fly in Cafe. Pancake breakfast with styrofoam pumpkin carving, coloring activities, costume contest, and all kinds of fun. Kids meals $7.00 all you can eat silver dollar pancakes and sausage links or bacon, juice or milk. Adults $11.00 and will be all you can eat pancakes sausage links or bacon and choice of beverage.

Sat Oct 12. 12:00 p.m. Tricks for Treating Epilepsy Awareness Expo at Fairbanks Park. We will have resources from local nonprofits and vendors, raffles, costume contest, and pumpkin painting. Additionally, we will have local neurologists on a Q&A panel!

Fri Oct 18 and Sat Oct 19. Fall Fest 2019 at Shakamak State Park in Jasonville, IN. Gate fees $7.00 IN residents; $9.00 out of state. Food and drink vendors will be onsite. Halloween egg hunt, amazing race family challenge, fireworks, and more!

Fri Oct 18 and Sat Oct 19. 6:00-9:00 p.m. UnHaunted Halloween Happenings at Deming Park. If you have young children you would like to bring, we recommend the un-haunted nights. We have various activities for the kids to enjoy, as well as  non-scary train and hayrides ($3/person). Free movie and storytime. On Friday at 6:30 p.m. Dog Costume Contest. $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

Fri Oct 18. Sammy Terry Returns to the MoonLite in “Terror-Haute”

Sat Oct 19. Terre Haute Parks and Recreation Trunk or Treat. Collect candy from well known city departments/organizations all while checking out their awesome vehicles.

Sat Oct 19. 4:00 p.m. Fall Family Fun Night at Clay County YMCA. Come in your Halloween best! Games and activities for all ages. Free chili. Candy and healthy treats.

Thur Oct 24. 5:00 p.m. Healthy Halloween Spooktacular at Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Museum guests of all ages are encouraged to dress in costume and explore over 20 activity stations around the museum. Community organizations lead activities to show the fun and not-so-spooky side of healthy living and making healthy choices. $2/person.

Wed Oct 23-Fri Oct 25 AND Mon Oct 27-Thurs Oct 31. 12:00-6:00 p.m. Halloween Costume Swap at Vigo County Public Library West Branch. Leave what you can and take what you need to create your perfect costume. Costumes for all ages will be accepted and available to take at no charge. Items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fri Oct 25. 6:00 p.m. Halloween Book Giveaway. Start your night off with a free book of your choice from the Vigo County Public Library Main Branch. Show off your costume and snap photos at our photo booth before you head downtown for more tricks and treats.

FEATURED EVENT!

Fri Oct 25. 6:00 p.m. Haunted Haute Downtown Trick of Treat. Have a scary-fun time downtown for the annual Downtown Haunted Haute! You’ll experience more than 50 booths of free family fun! Plus, kids will get a head start on this year’s trick-or-treating!

Fri Oct 25. 7 pm. Halloween Skate at Terre Haute Skate World. Come skating and have a SPOOKY GOOD TIME!

Fri Oct 25. 7:00 p.m. The Dance Studio. $15. Halloween Party. Costumes encouraged.

Fri Oct 25 and Sat Oct 26. Fall-o-Ween 2019 at McCormick’s Creek State Park in Spencer IN. Pumpkin carving, costume contest, trick or treating and more!

Fri Oct 25 and Sat Oct 26. 5:30 p.m. Haunted Hike – Hocus Pocus at Douglas-Hart Nature Center in Mattoon, IL. $8 children 3-11, $10 ages 12+. Visitors will hike our trails led by a guide through costumes characters, creepy creatures, and unexpected twists! After jumps and screams, visitors will be treated to a hayride back to the center.

Fri Oct 25 and Sat Oct 26. 7:00-10:00 p.m. Haunted Halloween Happenings at Deming Park. Come out and enjoy the “screams” on our haunted nights as we have volunteers from all over Terre Haute who dedicate their time to entertain our guests. Train rides and wagon rides $3/person.

Halloween Events on Saturday, October 26

Sat Oct 26. 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Halloween Spectacular Craft and Vendor Show & Community Trick or Treat at Vigo County Fairgrounds. We will be doing a costume contest for kids 0-12 and a pet costume contest. Free admission. Free parking. Spaces are available $30 for a 15’X15′ space inside.

Sat Oct 26. 9:30 a.m. Baby Explorer: 5 Little Pumpkins at Terre Haute Children’s Museum. We will explore the sights, smells, textures, taste, and the sound of pumpkins. Baby Explorer is for ages 0- 2 and their caregiver. Included with admission. This is a pre-registered program.

Sat Oct 26. 1st Annual Halloween Spooktacular in Clinton, Indiana. Adults only Halloween party–come in costumes!!

Sat Oct 26. 10:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. Sat-Terror Day Fall Festival in Plainfield, IN. Come join us at Talon Stream Park for a free family friendly Spook-tacular event for all ages! Count on participating in a Trunk or Treat, bounce houses, doggy costume contest, pumpkin decorating station, pony rides, food trucks, children’s costume contest, hayrides and music.

Sat Oct 26. 11:00 a.m. 37th Annual Altrusa Chili Cook-Off. Stop by and sample chili from over 20 different booths. Bring your entire family! $1 gets you in the door, $0.50 gets you a sample. Enjoy good food,music,beer garden, children’s costume contest, and face painting.

Sat Oct 26. 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Blood, Sweat, and Fears Zombie Fun Run at Vigo County Conservation Club. Choose between a 1mi walk through the safe zone or a 3K adventure through muddy, zombie infested trails… and hope you aren’t tagged by an infected. Tickets $12 in advance, $15 at door. Age 10 and under are free.

Sat Oct 26. 2:00-8:00 p.m. Griffin Bike Park Halloween Festival. Ride Race and Play! Honoring the areas First Responders. All Ages & Skill Levels. Free Event. The Halloween Festival Returns! Join us for rides, games, costume contest, the Trick or Treat Trail, and Bonfire!

Sat Oct 26. 4:00-7:00 p.m. (CDT). Halloween 2019 in Marshall, IL. Trunk or Treat, Costume Contest – judged by age (Newborn-1, 2-4, 5-7, 8-10, 11-14, 15 & over, Group/Family)

Sat Oct 26. 5:00 p.m. Trunk or Treat at 1132 Locust. Hosted by Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club, Vivid Smiles, and Grifols Plasma Care.

Sat Oct 26. 5:00-10:00 p.m. Kids Night Out Spooktacular at Vigo County YMCA. Kids ages 18 months – 12 years come to the Y dressed in your Halloween best. The event will feature Halloween themed activities and crafts, a dance party, games and more! Members-$15 for first child, $10 each additional child. Non members-$25 for first child, $15 each additional child.

Sat Oct 26. 6:00 p.m. Trunk or Treat at 12 Points.  Check in at Harmony Hall. Games, candy, decorated trunks and more!

Sat Oct 26. 6:00 p.m. Trunk or Treat at Maple Avenue United Methodist Church. Join us at Maple Avenue for family friendly event and explore the 12 points community.

Sat Oct 26. VCSC bus drivers and the transportation department invite you to their Trunk or Treat. Wear your costumes and bring your candy bucket!

Sat Oct 26. 8:00 p.m. Charlie’s Halloween Party at Charlie’s Pub & Grub. Featuring the Nerve from 9pm to Midnight.

Sat. Oct 26. 2 pm-3:30 p.m. Trick or Treat Festival hosted by Emmanuel United Methodist Church in West Terre Haute. The community is invited to come to a Trick or Treat Festival on Saturday, October 26th, from 2:00 – 3:30 pm, in the Community Life Center at the Emmanuel Church, 6056 US 150 in West Vigo, Indiana. Kids are welcome to dress up in the favorite costumes and come to a safe and caring environment for some trick or treating. There will be some games to play, pictures to take, and some snacks to eat. It will be a chance to mingle with other kids and young families in the community. The game room with ping pong, foosball, air hockey, and card and board games will be open as well.

Halloween Events on Sunday, October 27

Sun Oct 27Trunk & Treat at Union Baptist Church. 4075 East Harlan Drive, Terre Haute, IN. 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Free event.

Sun Oct 27. 5:00 p.m. Mt. Pleasant Church Trunk or Treat. Come join us for some free, fall, family fun! Trunk or treating, live music, free food, face painting, games, photo booth, and more!

Sun Oct 27. 5:00 p.m. Trunk or Treat and Family Fest at Terre Haute First Church of the Nazarene. This event is hosted in a partnership between THFN and the Wabash Valley Habitat for Humanity! There will be vehicles decorated for trunk or treaters, games, and free food for the family!

Sun Oct 27. 5:00 p.m. Northside Community Trunk Or Treat at Northside Community United Methodist Church. A free, safe and fun Halloween alternative. Filled with treats galore and a message you just can’t ignore! Games, Prizes, Music, and so much more! Plus a free dinner will be served!

Sun Oct 27. Trunk or Treat hosted by Otter Creek Fire Department.

Sun Oct 27. 5:30 p.m. Trunk or Treat at Union Christian Church. Our parking lot will be full of decorated trunks ready to pass out treats to all the kids. Always a GREAT TIME!! In case of rain, we will see you in the Family Life Center.

Sun Oct 27. Trunk or Treat and Free Movie at the Moon Lite Drive-In Theater hosted by Wabash Valley Jeep Junkies and Terre Town PTO! Gates open at 4:30 to the public, 4:00 for Jeep Junkies. Trunk or Treat from 5 to 7pm, and the free movie (Casper) follows at 7:15!

Sun Oct 27. 6:00 p.m. Trunk or Treat at North Terre Haute Christian Church. Bring the kids for a friendly, safe trick or treating experience!

Sun Oct 27. Bogey’s Family Fun Center costume party.  Every Child Participating will receive a prize for attending!

Sun Oct 27. Zorah Shrine Kids’ Halloween Party. This event is for our Shriner’s Hospitals children and those of members. Join us for a great time, fun games, and a menu of hamburgers and hot dogs.

Sun Oct 27. Trunk or Treat hosted by Memorial United Methodist Church. *If weather is unsuitable for the children to be outside it will be held in the fellowship hall and narthex

Mon Oct 28. 5:00 p.m. Chik Fil A Halloween Party. Wear a costume, activities, treat bags, online best costume competition. We are going to post photos of the kids that want to participate and come to the event online. The photo with the most votes/likes will receive a Chick-fil-A basket of goodies.

Mon Oct 28. 5:30 p.m. Vigo County CASA Trunk or Treat. Vigo County North Parking Annex. Dirt track and drag strip heroes will be in attendance with their cars and drivers signing autographs! Kona Ice, Hobo Junction, the petting zoo and walking trivia will be taking place this year! Hot dogs while supplies last. Rain Date Oct 29.
