Unearth a Story! 2026 Summer Reading from the Vigo County Public Library
As my four girls have gotten older, I haven’t kept up with many summer traditions, but The Summer Reading Program from the Vigo County Public Library is something we always join. After all, where else can you go to earn prizes just for reading and enjoying FREE, local fun with your family!?
The program officially launches on May 29, but you can sign up throughout June and July! What are you waiting for? (Scroll down for a sneak peek at the AMAZING grand prizes!)
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE VIGO COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY SUMMER READING PROGRAM
For the past few years, the library has posted their programming (and registration) through the Beanstack website and app.
For our family, we have kids in the 6-11, teen, and adult category. Families with little ones will be glad to hear that even BABIES can join the 0-5 category!
What can you win? Here are a few of the prizes we see on the app for our family and yours!

But before you can enter to win a grand prize: you’ll want to sign up to receive a free book!
When you sign up for the Summer Reading Program, your kids can automatically come in and choose a free book (to keep) from the library!
Once you’re signed up, the “Activity Badges” serve as a great launching point for summer fun if you would like to give some structure to your summer days. You can earn virtual tickets for completing activities!

Completion of the activities results in tickets you can use to enter to win prizes!
The other way to earn tickets?
Log your reading hours!
(I have two teenagers, and this is their favorite part. They both read several hours every day to relax.)
Read (audiobooks, graphic novels, and books you’re re-reading for the second, third, or 100th time all count!) to earn prizes!
Then use your tickets to virtually enter the grand prize drawings!
My kids and their friends scrolled through this post and declared that they want to win EVERYTHING!
Of course, another strength of our wonderful library system is that they host in-person events in all seasons!
