All Together Now! 2023 Summer Reading from the Vigo County Public Library
The Summer Reading Program from the Vigo County Public Library will always be one of our favorite things to brag about. Where else can you go to earn prizes just for reading and enjoying FREE, local fun with your family!?
The program launched on June 1st, but you can sign up throughout June and July! What are you waiting for?
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE VIGO COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY SUMMER READING PROGRAM
For the past few years, the library has hosted their programming (and registration) through the Beanstack website and app.
For our family, we have kids in the 6-11, teen, and adult category. Families with little ones will be glad to hear that even BABIES can join the 0-5 category! Here are a few highlights we see on the app for our family and yours!
Sign up and receive a free book!
When you sign up for the Summer Reading Program, your kids can automatically come in and choose a free book (to keep) at the library!
Log your reading hours and complete online challenges to win prizes.
Read (audiobooks, graphic novels, and books you’re re-reading for the second, third, or 100th time all count!) 5 hours to get your first prize!
Teens: check out what you can get after just five hours!
Younger kids will be excited to see options for pizza and swimming!
BONUS! The library would love to see the fun you’ve had with your rewards and prizes. Tag their NEW instagram page, so they can see the fun you’re having!
Attend in-person events for kids! For example, in July you can head to the West Branch for tie dye!

And on Fridays, you can attend Summer Space Camp!
Find a new adventure. You can check out kits FOR FREE (in summer and always) with your library card. Summer road trips pair well with the “summer road trip essentials” kit that includes a portable DVD player!
Find events for adults and teens. The summer reading program isn’t just for little ones! Adults can sign up to read and for in-person events like movie showings!
Adventure in the community with the reading program “challenges.“
Relax with a movie night or stream music! Access Video on Demand or Hoopla for FREE with your library card! Documentaries, films, movies, childhood favorite shows!
Bond over board games! Did you know you can borrow board games from the library?
As you check off activities, you will earn virtual tickets that you can add to a drawing (via the app) for fun prizes such as a portable projector (for teens), a Bogey’s/Wonderlab package (for kids), or local restaurant gift cards (for adults)!
When you’ve completed the program, come to the library for a FREE GAME!

And together we’ll wrap up the summer fun with a celebration in July at the West Branch.
