December Calendar and Christmas Events in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley

There’s so much happening this season in the Wabash Valley, that it might be easy to miss out on something fun. That’s why put together this calendar of Christmas events in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley.  We want you to have a holly, jolly Christmas, a festive holiday season, and a very happy New Year!

December and Christmas Events in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley

Wednesday, December 1. Soccer Clinic for ages 4-15 at the Vigo County YMCA.

Wednesday, December 1. Sign up for Sensory Bin kits from the Vigo County Public Library. Open-ended, tactile play provides developmental opportunities for your child, including increasing fine motor skills, critical thinking, and creativity. Plus, sensory bins are easy to create!

Wednesday, December 1. Candy Cane Hunt at Deming Park. The hunt will begin at 5:00 on the Deming Park playground for ages 2-12.

Wednesday, December 1. Registration begins for STEAM Gingerbread House kits with the Vigo County Public Library.

Thursday, December 2. Write letters to Santa with Sigma Kappa! Free cookies, hot chocolate, and Christmas stories.

Friday, December 3. 12th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in 12 Points. Santa will be there for children. There will be singing, dancing, hot chocolate, and treats! Admission is free. They will be accepting donations for Covered With Love.

Friday, December 3.“Fur Ever Friends” Workshop“Fur Ever Friends” Workshop at the Vigo County YMCA. 5-7 pm. $20 gets you everything you need to stuff a Christmas themed animal!

Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4. Miracle on 7th Street. Market, parade, trackless train, pictures with The Grinch, and more!

Friday, December 3 through Sunday, December 5. Home for the Holidays show at Community Theatre of Clay County.

Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4. Christmas Walk in Fowler Park. Christmas in the Village. All cabins will be open and decorated for a primitive Christmas.

Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4. Friends of the Library Holiday Book Sale. 

Saturday, December 4. Christmas Parade in CLOVERDALE, IN.  While you’re in Cloverdale, you can also visit Santa at the Icehouse and have Breakfast with Santa on the 4th!

Saturday, December 4. Jasonville Home for the Holidays. Craft vendors, lighted parade, Santa, and tree lighting with 85 trees!

Saturday, December 4. Cookies with Santa and Holiday Parade in Putnam County.

Saturday, December 4. Hometown Holiday in Brazil, IN. Chocolate walk, carriage rides, “Elf in the Window” elf search, games, and more!

Saturday, December 4. Candlelit Holidays with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. The THSO’s annual holiday performance, titled Candlelit Holidays, will take place on December 4, 2021. This beloved annual tradition embraces the season with holiday classics and enchanting music! Let the music of the season weave another magical memory for you and your family.

Saturday, December 4. Christmas in the Park Reindeer Romp. This race includes a 5K run/walk option for adults and youth; a 3K run/walk option for youth who are 8th grade and under; and 1/2 mile Reindeer Romp for youth who are 8 years old and under. The Reindeer Romp will start at 9:50 a.m. with the 5K and 3K starting after that.

Saturday, December 4. FREE showings of Elf and Christmas with the Kranks at the MoonLite Drive-in Theater.

Sunday, December 5. Meet the Grinch at Little Bear Coffee and then head to Moonlite Drive-in for a FREE showing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Tuesday, December 7. National Cotton Candy Day at Cotton Chaos.  We’re giving away one free signature flavored mini cone per person who visits along with a raffle to win a $25 gift card!

Wednesday, December 8. Discoverers at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Do you wanna build a snowman? Discover the sounds of ice, excavate a glacier, and make ornaments to take home. Discoverers will engage in stories, songs and play alongside their parent or caregiver during this hour long science exploration. Play through hands on S.T.E.M. experiences, while increasing their developing language and literacy. Preschool Discoverers love to dive into the messy, the silly, and fun of science all around them. Best part we clean up.

Thursday, December 9. Sensitive Santa will be available at The Meadows between 4 pm-7 pm for children with special needs.

Friday, December 10. Grand opening of MOD Pizza Terre Haute. The first 50 people will receive free pizza and 100% percent of opening day sales will be donated to Next Step Foundation, Inc. and the MOD “Squad Relief” fund.

December 10-12 and 17th-19th. Christmas at the Main Event. Visit Santa while drinking hot cocoa, shopping at local vendors and more!

Saturday, December 11. Vintage Runway Market. Shop with local small businesses, makers, artists, boutiques, and more this holiday season at The Vintage Runway Market!

Saturday, December 11. Craft and Story Time at Little Bear Coffee. Santa may make an appearance!

Saturday, December 11. Breakfast with Santa at Zorah Shine in Terre Haute.

Sunday, December 12. Rose Holiday Pops Concert.  It’s time for the Rose Holiday Pops Concert! Join the Rose-Hulman concert band, choir, symphony, and jazz ensemble as they perform your favorite holiday classics to kick off the season! Free and open to the public!

Sunday, December 12. Kids are invited to design and build a water filtration system. FREE activity with Wabash Valley’s Riverscape.

Wednesday, December 15. Ultimate Ugly Sweater Grand Opening at the Climbing Cafe.

Thursday, December 16. How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Terre Haute North Counterpoints.

Saturday, December 18. Ugly sweater party at Ferm Fresh. Food and drink specials.

Saturday, December 18. Grinchmas Spectacular at Wigwam Skate and Event Center. $10 includes Admission, Skate Rental, Grinch Meet & Greet, Photo Opportunity, Hot Chocolate Bar. The first 75 get a Free Souvenir Grinch Bag

Sunday, December 19. Christmas basket giveaway at Foursquare Gospel Church. First come, first serve.

Sunday, December 19. Grow your own gingerbread house fairy garden with District 6 Market and Little Bear!

Sunday, December 19. Christmas Cantata at Northside Community United Methodist Church.

Sunday, December 19. Elf on a Shelf Skate Party at the Wigwam. Come meet Sk8! He is a Scout Elf sent from Santa at The North Pole to help determine who has been naughty or nice, and he wants to bring the Christmas Magic back to every family in our area. Come Skate with our Elf On The Shelf. Come meet and have your picture taken with our Elf on A Shelf. Admission is $10.00 includes skate rental, hot chocolate bar, and much more!

Sunday, December 19. Santa Claus is coming to Villas of Holly Brook in Brazil, IN. Residents and their families are welcome to visit with Santa and get pictures taken! They will have cookies and hot cocoa to share with you.

Monday, December 20. Annual Ornament Decorating with the Terre Haute Parks Department.

Friday, December 31. New Year’s Eve at Eagle’s Lodge.
