Of course, that’s not the only way that 2020 has been a break from tradition. It’s no surprise that our list of Halloween events in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley is much (much!) smaller than in previous years. But in some form or fashion, Halloween is still happening!

2020 Halloween Events in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley
Thursday, October 22.IvyTech Community College Terre Haute’s Student Government Association (SGA) will host a free movie showing of The Addams Family at The Moonlite Drive-In on Thursday, October 22, free and open to the public. The movie begins at 8:00 p.m. and doors open at 7:00 p.m. The Moonlite Drive-In is located at 5056 N. Lafayette St, Terre Haute. Anyone who attends wearing a costume or IvyTech gear can stop by the IvyTech booth to register for a chance to win a prize pack.
Thursday, October 22 and Thursday, October 29.Curbside trick or treating with Lowe’s. Come celebrate Halloween with Lowe’s Drive-through Curbside Trick-or-Treating event! Register your child starting on October 10 so they don’t miss out on free sweet treats and a kid-sized pumpkin.
Friday, October 23. Fall Party at Apostolic Praise Center in Rockville. 6:30 pm. They will be having hot dogs, hot chocolate, hot cider, s’mores, caramel apples, badminton, corn hole and more!
Saturday, October 24.Jeepers & Creepers. Haunted Tour and Poker Chip Run. Jeeps, side by sides, even your family mini van won’t be turned away ! Starting at the Vigo County Conservation club, you will take a self paced scenic tour through beautiful Rural Vigo, Clay, and Parke counties, stopping at the haunted & historical sites along the way to hear the tales of each famous folklore location before returning to the VCCC. Feel free to bring a cooler to stop for lunch along the way in Beautiful Bridgeton or Mansfield, or grab a bite at one of the many fine local restaurants in Brazil or Seelyville !
Sunday, October 25.Drive Thru Trunk or Treat at Northside United Methodist Church. Join us for our Drive Thru Style Trunk Or Treat! Sunday, October 25th from 5-7pm at Northside Community UMC located across from North High School. A safe and fun Halloween experience. Drive Thru and view our decorated trunks while doing a scavenger hunt! Receive a treat bag filled with candy and other surprises for each child in the vehicle before you exit. While supplies last.
Friday, October 30.Fowler Park After Dark. Join the VCPRD at the Fowler Park Pioneer Village for Fowler Park After Dark! This is the perfect event for fear loving friends of the park! We will be showing When a Stranger Calls (rated PG-13; run time: 1 hour 27 min) in the field next to Shelter A at Fowler Park! Concessions will begin at 6:30 and the movie will begin at 7:15. But wait! There’s more! We will have a spooky surprise for our movie-goers before the start of the movie! We will be asking all attendees to adhere to six-feet social distancing efforts. Masks must be worn when in close proximity to those outside your household. Until further notice community drinking fountains are closed. Feel free to pack a picnic of treats for you and your family to enjoy through the movie.
Friday, October 30.Trick or treating at Sewer Lair Toys. Bring in your little ones dressed up in their favorite Halloween Costume on Friday October 30th from 6:30pm-7:30pm for trick-or-treating. Full size candy bars! Yes, that is correct, FULL SIZE CANDY BARS! No purchase necessary. Limit 1 per child. Supplies are limited, so when we run out, we’ll be out! Sorry adults, this is for the kiddos only.
Saturday, October 31.Zombie Apocalypse 5k. Run, dodge, and survive the Zombie Apocalypse 5k by either working together as a team or taking on the apocalypse solo in this zombie 5k! All participants will wear provided flag football belts as they dip and dodge zombies along the 5k route in the beautiful Fowler Park. All participants entering the quarantined zone will have 3 flags attached to their belts and will have to dip, dodge, and run away from the zombie horde hidden throughout the 5k route. Our zombies will be attempting to tear your flags off of your belt. Return to the finish line with at least 1 flag still attached to “survive” the Zombie Apocalypse!
Saturday, October 31.Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Drive Thru Trunk or Treat. Join us for a family fun alternative to trick or treating at Mount Pleasant Church on October 31 from 5-7pm. Put on your costumes, drive thru in your vehicle, and get treats galore! To practice proper social distancing, everyone must remain in their vehicles. No walk-ups are permitted. Participants will enter the parking lot from our Sidenbender Rd. entrance, and then exit onto Davis Dr. after driving thru the parade of trunks and receiving their treats.
Saturday, October 31. Terre Haute Terror Tales at the Vigo County Public Library. Ages 12 & Up: Have you heard of the terror of Sheet’s mausoleum or the tales of the Dewees-Preston House? Watch a frightful retelling of these local hauntings in the library’s parking lot as they’re projected on Halloween night at 7:30 p.m. Following the short film, the 1959 version of House on Haunted Hill will be shown. Please bring your own refreshments, and enjoy your the films from your vehicle or from your lawn chairs on the library lawn.
Saturday, October 31.Drive-thru candy give away at Remnant Church. This Halloween join us for the safest way for your kids to get candy. Saturday Oct. 31st we are having a Drive Thru Candy Give Away from 6:30 – 8:30pm @ 800 E. Haythorne, Ave. T.H., IN. 47805. All you have to do is show up with your kiddos in the car and get filled up on candy. Candy is for kids only, and they must be present to receive it. We encourage you to dress up! We are asking that you please stay in your vehicles at all times in order for the event to run smoothly and safely for everyone. Invite your friends and family. Together, we will light up the night!
Join Tell-Tale Tours for a Haunted History Walking Tour of Terre Haute, Indiana. Tell-Tale Tours offers two walking tours. The 90 minute Haunted History Walking Tour takes patrons on a walk through the dark and haunted history of Terre Haute. We will visit the haunts of ISU, a former gallows, a subterranean graveyard and other spooky spots.

Friday, October 9.Pumpkin Carving Contest. Join the VCPRD at Prairie Creek Park’s Persimmon Shelter on Friday, October 9th from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. for some spooky fun! Pumpkins, carving implements, and tarps/newspapers will be provided. Wow our judges (our staff/volunteers) with your pumpkin carving expertise! First prize: TBD. All ages welcome. Participants ages 13 and under must be supervised by an adult at all times. Friday, October 9.Pumpkin decorating contest with Jolly Pines Christmas Tree Farm. Purchase any size pumpkin from Jolly Pines the day of the contest. We will provide basic paint, and one basic paintbrush per person. You may bring your own paintbrushes and decorations if desired. We will have the following age groups: 3-5 yrs.; 6-8 yrs.; 9-12 yrs.; 13-15 yrs. 16 and up. Winner from each group can chose a t-shirt or $10. Must be present to win and decorating is on site. You can come anytime between 4-7 pm but winners will be announced at 6:45 pm. Bring a blanket to sit in the grass if desired.
Thursday, October 15.Watch a movie and be served dinner by the Culinary Queens at the Moon Lite Drive. This year the Culinary Queens will “haunt” the Moon Lite Drive-in Theater on October 15th and Old National Bank will “treat” you to FREE admission. The only “trick” is that you must register today at terrehaute.culinaryqueens.com. Bring the family and enjoy the viewing of Halloween Classic! You can even upgrade to a “VIP Experience” with dinner from Butler’s Pantry, a 360 Virtual Haunted House and a snack box for the movie. A cash bar will be available. This event is an effort to raise funds for FSA Counseling, which is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families in our community by providing affordable, quality counseling and education.
October 9, 10, 11, 16, and 17th. Drive Thru Scare at the Vigo County Fairgrounds. Experience creepy music over your radio on 94.1 as you make your way through spook fog and meet scary characters. Drive thru time is 6:30-9 pm. Classic Halloween movies begin at 9 pm (weather permitting). $22 per vehicle.
Saturday, October 17. 5 pm. Drive-thru trick or treat at Deming Park.
