Friday, October 28. Fowler Park Hayride. Join the Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department on Friday, October 28th at Fowler Park from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for family-friendly hayrides! Rides will leave from the Foltz Cabin directly across from the Fowler Park Log Barn. Tickets are $3 per person. This event is open to all ages and includes a brief ride through the Fowler Park Pioneer Village and around the park.

Friday, October 7. Barn Party with Remnant Church. Bonfire, soup beans and veggie soup, cornhole, games music, and more! You can even come dressed in your country attire, but be sure to dress warm! Kids will also have a blast riding the train around the property. We encourage you to bring lawn chairs and even blankets if you’d like.

Friday, October 14. Learning Lab: Creepy Crawlies at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. October is a SPOOKtacular month to head into the Museum and learn about all things creepy and crawly. “Bugs” might be a scary, or even gross word to some but they really are quite fascinating creatures once you learn about them. Come in and get hands-on with some Hissing Cockroaches, take an up-close look at preserved arthropods (the scientific term for “bugs”), make your own spider silk, and eat like an insect!
Saturday, October 15. Food Forest Fall Festival with ISU Office of Sustainability. Learn about sustainable agriculture, pollination, and composting. Join for pumpkin painting, face painting, and making seed bombs! Free admission, free parking, and free t-shirts (while supplies last).

Friday, October 7. Brews and Boomsticks Harry Potter Event at Sons’ Spice Co. Sweet and savory pumpkin pasties, a platform 9 3/4 photo op, polyjuice potion, butterbeer, and more!
Friday, October 7. Green Acres Trunk or Treat. Come join us for an evening of Halloween festivities! Show up to trick or treat or decorate your car and help us hand out candy! We hope to see all the kids dressed up in their favorite characters!
Friday, October 7. Barn Party with Remnant Church. Bonfire, soup beans and veggie soup, cornhole, games music, and more! You can even come dressed in your country attire, but be sure to dress warm! Kids will also have a blast riding the train around the property. We encourage you to bring lawn chairs and even blankets if you’d like.
Friday, October 7. Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Moonlite Drive-In.
Saturday, October 8. Empathy Builders Halloween. Ages 0–10: Whether it’s because of a monster under the bed or a strange bump in the night, everyone gets scared! With this month’s Empathy Builders, your child will discover how fear is a common emotion—and can even be a little fun—as well as how to manage being afraid. After storytime, practice trick-or-treating with other attendees to prepare for the spookiest night of the year: Halloween!
October 7, 8, 9, 14, and 15. Drive-thru scare at the Vigo County Fair Grounds.If you seek thrills and aren’t afraid of getting chills, load up your car with your family and friends and head to the Halloween Drive Thru Scare!
Wednesday, October 12. Spooktober Teen Movie Night: Twilight. Ages 12–19: High school student Bella Swan doesn’t expect her life to change much when she moves from Arizona to live with her father in Forks, Washington—until she meets a mysterious classmate and becomes embroiled in a supernatural showdown between the Cullen family and a group of nomadic vampires who are threatening her life.
Tuesday, October 13. Halloween Mask Making with the Vigo County Public Library. Ages 6–19: Add a personal touch to your Halloween costume with a custom mask! Choose from paper, feathers, sequins, and other craft materials at one of the mask-making stations. Options will be available for every skill level.
Friday, October 14. Learning Lab: Creepy Crawlies at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. October is a SPOOKtacular month to head into the Museum and learn about all things creepy and crawly. “Bugs” might be a scary, or even gross word to some but they really are quite fascinating creatures once you learn about them. Come in and get hands-on with some Hissing Cockroaches, take an up-close look at preserved arthropods (the scientific term for “bugs”), make your own spider silk, and eat like an insect!
Saturday, October 15. Food Forest Fall Festival with ISU Office of Sustainability. Learn about sustainable agriculture, pollination, and composting. Join for pumpkin painting, face painting, and making seed bombs! Free admission, free parking, and free t-shirts (while supplies last).
Wednesday, October 19. Create a spooky cloche with cricut and the Vigo County Public Library. Add a little spooky flair to your home décor this Halloween with the CRICUT® cutting machine. Pick from pre-created designs, choose your materials, and learn how to use CRICUT® Design Spaces to send your pattern to the CRICUT® machine.

Friday, October 21. Teen Monster Prom with the Vigo County Public Library. Ages 12–19: Are you looking for a frightfully good time? Dress up as your favorite character or in a costume of your own design and spend your evening at the Teen Monster Prom with your friends! Dance to the DJ, take selfies at the photo booth, enjoy refreshments, and enter the costume contest. Costumes are encouraged; please leave any realistic weapons at home.
Friday, October 21. Trunk or treat with Vivid Smiles. Come join the fun October 21st 4-6pm in the parking lot of Vivid Smiles. There will be a costume contest, vote on your favorite trunk and get some awesome goodies!

Saturday, October 22. Hairy Scary Howl-O-Ween at Aikman Wildlife Adventure in Arcola, IL. Pumpkin bowling, pumpkin ring toss, pumpkin golf, bounce house, animal enrichment with pumpkins!
Saturday, October 22. Halloween Hunt at the Vigo County Fair Grounds. Think Easter Egg Hunt but instead of Easter eggs we will use Halloween themed containers. Children will hunt in designated areas by age category. 2&3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. $15 to participate which includes lunch and a craft.
$5 for lunch only.

Monday, October 24. 4-H at the Drive-in. Free showing of Casper! Join Vigo County 4-H for a FREE showing of Casper at the Moonlite Drive-in. Come early to learn more about 4-H with Club booths at activities! Gates open at 6:30pm with movie showing at 7:30pm. Everyone is welcome! Find out more about enrolling in 4-H here! Wednesday, October 26. Terre Haute Sensory Friendly Trunk or Treat. Please join Unlocking the Spectrum for sensory-friendly Halloween fun! We’ll have a food truck at the event, and loads of treats. Come in costume or as yourself, we can’t wait to celebrate!

Wednesday, October 26. Spooktober Teen Movie Night: The Addams Family Values with the Vigo County Public Library. When Morticia and Gomez Addams welcome their third child into their home, Wednesday and Pugsley aren’t happy about the new addition and Wednesday is even more suspicious of Debbie Jellinsky, the nanny her parents have hired to help with the newborn son.
