Wednesday, June 3. Wiggle Worms Storytime at VCPL Main. Ages 2–5: Wiggle, sing, and play your way through stories at Wiggle Worm Storytime.

Thursday, June 4. Ages 12–18: Try one of the world’s oldest art forms at Make Your Own Petroglyphs at VCPL Main. Carve your own petroglyph in clay, then make it stand out with paint. Once your artwork is complete, take it home with you or leave it to decorate the Teen Space. The program has a limited number of seats available. Please register each attendee individually. If this event has reached maximum capacity, non-registrants may be turned away on the day of the event. Register at vigolibrary.org/events.
Thursday, June 4. Libratory: Coloring with Plants at VCPL West. Ages 7–12: Turn food into colorful dyes with the White Violet Center for Eco-Justice.
Thursday, June 4. Preschool Party at the CLINTON Public Library. Calling all Crawlers and Toddlers! Join us the 1st Thursday on the month for a special program at 10am and 1pm!
Thursday, June 4. Bambu Basics at Haute Create VCPL Main. Ages 12 & Up: Are you curious about 3D printing? Find out how to get started at BambuⓇ Basics. From key terms, software tools, and the slicing process, you’ll follow along with step-by-step instructions that cover the basics of using Bambu Studio, including how to find, edit, and prepare a simple design for print.

Thursday, June 4. Read to Walter at VCPL 12 Points. Ages 6-12: Is your child uncomfortable reading out loud? Maybe they just need a friendly ear—and Walter the Goldendoodle is ready to listen. Walter is a licensed therapy dog from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs who’s eager to hear a good story and whose calm presence will build your reluctant reader’s confidence.

Friday, June 5-Saturday, June 6. Strawberry Festival at Tuttle Orchards in GREENFIELD, IN. The FarmYard will be open 10am to 5pm on June 5 & 6!! We’ll have many of the FarmYard activities that you know and love with the addition of special strawberry themed activities, too. The FarmYard is $8/person for everyone 2 and older. We’ll have strawberry crafts, storytime, temporary tattoos, a free strawberry plant to take home, and more.
Friday, June 5. Summer Launch Party at Hawthorn Park. Kick off summer with the Vigo County Parks Department! We will begin with a Silly Safaris Live Animal Show at 5:00 PM in the Burkeybyle Shelter. After the show, head over to the Dogwood Shelter area for free kayaking, yard games, a bounce house, and popsicles to celebrate the start of summer. The Wabash Valley Road Runners Kids Running Program promotes the FUNdamentals of Youth Running! We will work to make running fun, emphasize good technique, work on participation and self-improvement, and consider individual difference.

Monday, June 8. Mindful Mondays at VCPL 12 Points. Take time out of your busy Monday to slow down and center yourself every week in June. Each session of Mindful Mondays will feature a short, guided meditation and an activity to reduce stress, improve your mood, and increase your focus.
Monday, June 8. Books and Butterflies at VCPL 12 Points. Ages 3–8: Get up close with a group of caterpillars in the Butterfly Box! At each session of Books & Butterflies, spot the differences as they grow and change. Then settle in for a story and make a craft to take home. On the final day, find out if the butterflies are ready!

Tuesday, June 9. 12 Points Storytime at VCPL 12 Points. Ages 5-9: Sing a song, hear a story, and help build it as you go. At 12 Points Storytime, your child won’t just sit and listen; they’ll be invited to place felt pieces on the board, join in when they’re ready, and take part in a simple activity or craft before heading home. Some days are quieter, some are more energetic, but there’s always space to listen, move, and enjoy the story together.

Tuesday, June 9. Dinosaurs Around the World at VCPL Main. Ages 6–15: Did you know that there are dinosaurs alive today? At Dinosaurs Around the World, you may not meet a Tyrannosaurus Rex, but you might meet its closest descendant, be introduced to animals that have existed for millions of years, or explore the life of an actual dinosaur through stories and crafts.

Tuesday, June 9-Thursday, June 11. Curse of the Four Pharaohs Escape Room at VCPL West. All Ages: When you stumble into a newly-discovered tomb, the door slams shut and the countdown begins! Decode hieroglyphics, uncover concealed relics, and open canopic chests to find the sacred jewels you need to break the curse. Can you escape before it’s too late? Friday, June 12. Woodlawn Cemetery Walk. Since 1835, Woodlawn Cemetery has been the final resting place of numerous early settlers, veterans dating back to the Revolutionary War, and important public figures such as Eugene V. Debs and Martin Sheets. Take a tour of this historic local cemetery with Vigo County Historian Suzy Dunning as she unearths the stories behind some of Terre Haute’s most prominent residents buried at Woodlawn. Explore where the dinosaurs are now and celebrate the people who help find them. See real life fossils of extinct plants and animals, including a giant mammoth bone found in Indiana!
Wednesday, June 17. History of Tattooing at VCPL Main. Humans have been decorating their skin for over 5,000 years, with tattooing developing independently across cultures worldwide. Discover the history of this ancient art and learn more about the popular incarnation in the United States, including a demonstration by local tattoo artist Amber McCarty.
Wednesday, June 17. Stories Worth Digging For: Treasure Map Design at VCPL Main. Ages 10 & Up: Whether you’re an intrepid explorer, a swashbuckling pirate, or an inquisitive treasure hunter, a map can lead you to your next great discovery! At Stories Worth Digging For, you’ll create your own unique map using rice to create natural borders. Mark the location of your hidden treasure with an “X,” then tell others the story of your hidden bounty.
Wednesday, June 17. LEGO Lab at VCPL Main. Ages 6–11: Kids can challenge their construction skills, teamwork abilities, and creativity at Lego Lab! Participants may tackle the monthly challenge or build their own design, then wrap up the session by touring everyone’s creations and seeing how different problems were solved. Parents and caregivers with children under nine should assist with building.

Thursday, June 18.Teen Book Club: The Last Cuentista at VCPL Main. Ages 10–18: Petra Peña’s world is ending. A comet is racing toward Earth, promising total devastation. But there is a small sliver of hope: a few hundred scientists and their children have been chosen to journey to a new planet and carry on the human race. When Petra wakes up on a new planet centuries later, she discovers that she’s the only survivor who remembers Earth. At the first session of Teen Book Club, you will receive a copy of The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera to read and discuss. Take your copy home, then return in July to finish the discussion. Refreshments will be provided at the July session.

Learn how to turn your ideas into actual 3D printed projects with Tinkercad, a user-friendly computer-assisted design tool! Originating from the historic city of Puebla, chiles en nogada may seem chaotic at first glance, but this rich dish has layers of flavor and a connection to Mexico’s Independence Day. Join Gail Wright from Purdue Extension as she creates this traditional dish with poblano peppers, picadillo, a creamy walnut sauce, and a sprinkle of pomegranate seeds. Please be aware that this dish will contain nuts and dairy. Poblanos are generally low-heat peppers, and while chiles en nogada is not meant to be a spicy dish, heat levels may vary among peppers.
