Summer vacation has officially started for most local school corporations! To help your family make the most of this beautiful month and fun season, we’ve put together this local event calendar filled with 75 things to do in June. Things to Do in June in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley
Mondays. 10:00 a.m. Tiny Tot Time at Vigo County Main Library. Ages 0 – 24 months: Bring your baby to the library for stories, songs, dance, and activities.
Tuesdays and Thursdays. 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Deming Park Summer Camp. An idea of our day will consist of an activity/field trip in the morning, lunch (bring your own lunch), swimming at Deming Pool, and a snack. $25/child/day.
Tuesdays. 9:30 a.m. Story Time Tuesday at Chick-fil-A Terre Haute. Join us for an hour of stories and activities. All kids 12 and under who participate can enjoy Chick-n-Minis on us!
Tuesdays. 1:00 p.m. Art Start at the Swope. Young artists are invited to experience this free art program. We will be reading a book and doing a related art project. For children ages three to five accompanied by an adult. Located at the Swope Education Center, enter from Ohio Street.
Tuesdays. 2:00 p.m. Stories and Space Vigo County Main Library. K – 2nd Grade: Make space for stories and music and then blast off into the universe with art, activities and snacks.
Tuesdays. 7:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Hawthorn Hiking Club. It’s Spring time! Hiking is the ultimate way to enjoy the outdoors and a fun way to reduce stress and rid yourself of the winter blahs. Regardless of the intensity level, it is a great way to burn calories and stay fit. All Ages. Free!
Wednesdays. 6:30 pm-8:30 pm. Character night at the Wigwam Skate and Event Center. $5 includes skate rental. Meet a new character every Wednesday!
Wednesdays. 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wiggle Worm Wednesdays at Vigo County Main Library. Ages 2-5: Bring your preschooler to the Library for interactive stories, songs, dancing, crafts and play!
Thursdays. 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Elliot Woods Hiking Club at Prairie Creek Park. Ages 18+. Free! It’s Spring time! Thursdays. 5:30 p.m. Open Studio & Basic Wheel Throwing at Deming Park Pottery. Open Studio: $65/month or $55/month for 3 months. Basic Wheel Throwing: $35 per class + glaze day. Project: Mugs
Thursdays. 6:00 p.m. Books Before Bedtime at Vigo County Main Library. Bring your children ages 0-5 for this evening storytime. Wear your pajamas to the library for stories, songs, and crafts before bedtime! This event will vary each week from traditional story time, to art-based activities, to music-making, and everything in between!
Thursdays. (June 20, 27, July 2, 11) 6:30-8:30 p.m. Birth Class by Covered with Love, Inc and Empowered Through Birth. This summer Covered with Love diaper bank is partnering with Caroline Wagner, a Lamaze certified childbirth educator, to offer a FREE 4 week birth class for families who anticipate using the diaper bank after birth.
Fridays. 10:30 a.m. Ready to Read Storytime at Vigo County Library West Branch. Ages 0-5: Sing along to music, move your bodies with egg shakers and scarves, hear stories and participate in crafts or playtime. Parents and caregivers are invited to participate with their children during this story time.
Fridays. 11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Mom’s Day Out at Vigo County YMCA. Extended Child Care will be offered to our members on Fridays throughout the summer to give our caregivers a break! (This service is offered to Y members only). Cost: $10 per family (Per date). Structured play for ages 12 weeks – 12 years at the Y including tumbling, games, arts and crafts and more. RSVP: It is REQUIRED to sign up by the Wednesday before. We will max at 10 kids.
Fridays and Saturdays through June 22. 1:30-1:50. Milk: Farm to Table Demo at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. How does milk get from moo to you? This short demo will show how milking machines work, how milk is chilled for transportation and storage, and then turn milk into cottage cheese and butter right before your eyes. Included with museum admission.
Sundays. 3:00 p.m. Smash Sundays at Full Moon Games. Venue Fee: $3.00. Prizes: Top players will receive store credit based on attendance that can be used at Full Moon Games or Footers Pizza.
Sundays. 6:00-7:15 p.m. Yoga in the Park at Hawthorn Park. Ages 13+. $5/per person. This is an all levels class that focuses on breath and postures to help align, strengthen, and develop flexibility in the body. Yoga has been shown to decrease stress, increase balance, and promote a sense of well being.
One Time Events in June
Summer of STEM! Our June calendar proudly features the summer camps happening at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum.

Each camp is Monday– Friday from 8 AM – NOON. Members receive a discount!
Campers enjoy hands-on activities, playtime in the museum, a snack each day, a weekly guest or field trip, a camp t-shirt, and time on the Ropes Challenge Course!
FEATURED ACTIVITY: Summer Reading Program at the Vigo County Public Library
Summer Reading is open to everyone, regardless of age. From infants to adults, everyone can participate! Every child will receive a free book to keep when they turn in a completed Bingo Card (ages 0-5) or Reading Log (ages 6-12) at the Library. Teens and Adults who log their reading hours online will be entered into weekly prize drawings.
At the end of Summer Reading, everyone who has logged hours will have a chance at a grand prize drawing!
Fri June 21. 10:00 a.m. Pregnancy and Postpartum Support Group by Empowered Through Birth. This is a free group for anyone who is currently pregnant, or has given birth within the past year. Come join us for a short informational time on a topic related to pregnancy or postpartum, and then a time of connecting with your peers by asking questions and receiving encouragement.
Fri June 21. 3:00 p.m. Backyard Astronomy at Vigo County Public Library West Branch. Make your own working astronomy equipment using readily available materials and easy instructions. Registration Required.
Fri June 21. 4:00 p.m. Galactic Fashion at Vigo County Public Library Main Branch. Use paint, stamps, markers, and brushes to create out-of-this-world designs on clothing. Get in touch with your creative side and have fun! Registration Required. Grades 6-12 – Ages 12-19.
Fri June 21. 6:00 p.m. Take those old records off the shelf at Shewey’s Terre Haute. Feel free to bring your own templates for your design or we will have a few on hand. Sign up fee is $10 to reserve your seat and then the night of the event you will pay the remaining $30.
Sat June 22. 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Intro to Blacksmithing at Fowler Park: Pioneer Village-Blacksmith Shop. Work with experienced blacksmiths to learn how to operate a blacksmith forge, understand the parts of an anvil, and the uses for various hand tools in the blacksmith shop. $60/person.
Sat June 22. 5:00-10:00 p.m. Kids Night Out at Vigo County YMCA. Children ages 18 months – 12 years. $15 first child/$10 additional children; Nonmember Rate: $25 first child.
Sat June 22. 6:00 p.m. Parks After Dark Herze Rose Park–Snacks & Convo with THPD Cop, Music DJ and Face painting. Come out and join in on some evening fun at a few local parks with a new program we are offering this summer! free to the Community. All Ages.

Sat June 22. 11:00 am – 1:30 pm. Have brunch with Buzz and Woody at the Wigwam. Advanced tickets are only $9.95 and include admission, skate rental (if needed), breakfast, special treat, meet & greet with characters of Toy Story 4, and photo opportunity. Adult Spectators only $6 and includes a brunch ticket.
Sun June 23. 1:00-3:30 p.m. All-you-can-eat pizza party & meet & greet with Buzz & Woody from Toy Story. Advanced Tickets only $9.95 and will include admission, skate rental (if needed), all-you-can-eat pizza, soda, special treat, meet & greet, photo opportunity. Adult spectators can purchase tickets for only $6, and these tickets include a ticket for all-you-can-eat pizza and soda.
Mon June 24. 6:30 p.m. Parks After Dark Collett Park–Family Game Night. Come out and join in on some evening fun at a few local parks with a new program we are offering this summer! FREE to the Community. All Ages.
Tues June 25.Summer Social. Plant a vegetable, win a prize, get a health screening or a car seat safety check. Free and open to the public!
Tues June 25. 9:30. Tot Time at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Wacky Water. Why water? Why water? Water for splashing, pouring, measuring, and so much more. The Tot Time Crew will dive into the science of water with activities to inspire new discoveries to play and learn with water. We will have smocks to help keep the clothes dry. Tot Time is an interactive, educational program for children ages 2-5 and their caregiver that includes story time, hands-on learning activities, and an opportunity to explore museum exhibits afterwards. Caregiver participation is mandatory, and a caregiver/ child ratio of 1:3 is requires. Included with admission. This is a pre-registered program. Sign up today!
Tues June 25. 11:00 a.m. Mother Goose on the Loose at Vigo County Public Library West Branch. Join Mother Goose for an interactive storytime with books, songs, rhymes and musical instruments. You and your child will play together and develop early literacy skills.
Tues June 25. 3:00 p.m. Blast Off With Bloxels Vigo County Public Library Main Branch. Create your own video game that is out of this world! Learn to design characters, enemies, and levels using the Bloxels game board and app. Registration Required. Ages 5-11.
Tues June 25. 6:00 p.m. Stories in the Sky at South Vigo Planetarium. Look up and learn about the stories that are hidden in the stars. The constellations tell ancient myths from around the world and through time. First come, first served. There are only 45 seats at each show.

Fri June 28. 2:00 p.m. A Universe of Stories with Keith West at Vigo County Public Library Main Branch. Travel the universe of stories with Keith West and Miss Kitty the Library Lady! This duo will bring the magic of reading to life through illusion and comedy.
Fri June 28. 6:00 p.m. Casual Friday Ride at Griffin Bike Park. All Ages And Skill Levels. FREE! Finish your week with a fun, relaxing ride through our woods at Griffin Bike Park. Hybrids and Mountain Bikes are recommended. Helmets are required. Adult supervision is required for riders ages 13 and under. Bring a bike light or headlamp to light the trail.
Fri June 28. 6:00 p.m. Date Night at Deming Park Pottery. $40 per couple. Registration Required.
Fri June 28. 8:00 p.m. Pauly Shore in Terre Haute at Terre Haute Brewing Co. Pauly is an American actor, comedian and filmmaker. Shore is best known for his roles in several comedy films in the 1990s. You can see him LIVE in Terre Haute doing his stand-up comedy. Recommended as 17 years and over. Tickets start at $25.
Sat June 29. 8:00 a.m. Firecracker 5k at Clay County YMCA. The 3.1 mile race will start and end at the Clay County YMCA. Early registration cost is $20 by June 15th. Following June 15th the cost will be $25. Participants can sign up as late as race day morning.
Sat June 29. Hands-on Science at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Pocket Solar System. How far is Neptune from the Sun? How far from the Earth? Make your own pocket solar system to discover how large our solar system is.
Sat June 29. 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Creepy Crawly Fest at Hawthorn Park Burkeybyle Shelter. Snakes, spiders, lizards, frogs, insects and everything in between. Let us celebrate our creepy crawlies today with live animal presentations, crafts, face painting and more. $5 Per Vehicle Donation Requested. The Terre Haute Children’s Museum will be there to invite you to play Insect Moves Game where you can act like a walking stick or a fly avoiding a spider’s web!

They will go on a hunt for insects, using best practices throughout the park. Later that evening Tabby will be set up with a black light, for those who want to see black light collecting techniques. 3rd-12th graders. Free for current 4-H, $15 for non members.
Fri. June 7.Bicycle Rodeo. Join us downtown at the First Friday Get Fit Event from 5 – 8pm. Crossroads Cyclery has asked the National Road Bike Club and Griffin Bike Park to partner with them to work with kids ages 5 and up. They will be focusing on learning bike safety skills on the road and on the trails.
Fri June 7. 4:00 p.m. First Friday: Astronaut Training Camp at Vigo County Public Library Main Branch. Practice walking on the moon, color a rocket, play pretend in the space station, explore galaxy play dough and even practice eating like an astronaut. While you’re here, sign up for the summer reading club.
Fri June 7. Stretch into June at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Jump, stretch, balance, and bend as you find ways to exercise through play. Activities will be outside the museum and free to all.
