Enjoy Free Books and Costumed Fun with the Halloween Events at the Vigo County Public Library!

We’re grateful that the Vigo County Public Library believes in the reach and efficacy of Haute Happenings enough to allocate a small portion of the library’s promotional budget to sponsorship of posts such as this one. All opinions are our own, and our enthusiasm for the library’s seasonal events is genuine!

Rarely a day or week goes by where I don’t feel thankful for the Vigo County Public Library.

One of the ways our library serves our community is by offering fun, safe, seasonal events! This month, the library is the place to be when it comes to FREE Halloween fun!

Take a peek at what’s on the library’s Halloween calendar!

Head to the library for theirHalloween Mask-Making Workshop.Transform your child’s Halloween look with a unique touch: a stunning handmade mask! Select from a collection of templates appropriate for all skill levels and let your child’s imagination soar while they embellish their mask with markers, crayons, and an array of craft supplies—or assist your little ones as they create the mask of their dreams.

On the hunt for this year’s perfect costume? Ready to part with some of your past favorites? Dive into the Costume Exchange & Workshop at the West Branch to discover a treasure trove of donated costumes, or let your imagination run wild and create a masterpiece from recycled materials and craft supplies.

Do you have a costume to donate? West Branch Library will accept donations beginning Monday, October 2.

On October 21, head over to the West Branch for the Halloween Trunk or Treat!

Grab your family’s candy buckets, explore decorated cars and trucks, and collect treats and goodies. Complete your Halloween haul with a free book from the VCPL van. When the clock strikes 7:00 p.m., showcase your costume at the Outdoor Shelter to vie for prizes in the costume contest—whether you’re eerie, imaginative, or adorable! Awards will include best group costume, scariest costume, most creative costume, and cutest costume.

And, of course, the favorite local tradition is to wear your costumes to the Vigo County Public Library to trick or treat at the library and take home a new book! This year, the fun is happening on October 27 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Start your night off with a free book of your choice from the Vigo County Public Library. Show off your costume and snap photos at our photo booth before you head downtown for more tricks and treats!
