Back-to-School Events in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley

What better way to end summer and ease into a new school year than with back-to-school events and end-of-summer parties?

Keep in mind, many of these events are open only to students who live in the district of the hosting organization. Please plan accordingly!

2019 Back to School Events in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley

• July 20. 9 am-12 pm. Back to School Bash at the Clay County YMCA. This is free community event for all Clay Community Schools students that will be held at the Clay County YMCA! Food, immunizations, haircuts, backpacks, bounces houses–all for FREE!
• July 20 and 21st. Back-to-school block party at Staples Terre Haute. Fun includes Batman, beer, and a K9 demonstration from the THPD and 20% off school supplies (with this coupon)!
• July 20. 10 am-2 pm. Back-to-School Carnival at Eastside Church of Christ. Carnival snacks, games, bounce houses, and more!
• July 21. 1-4 PM. School Rocks Backpack Giveaway.  Free backpacks filled with school supplies at TCC. 
• July 26 and July 27. Back-to-school bash at American Rental.  They will have 300+ backpacks to divide and giveaway along with some food, drinks, good music and we plan on offering FREE HAIR CUTS for school kids (K-12) needing a cut before the BIG day Back to School!
• July 27. We Live 2019. “We Live” will include booths from several community partners and activities including games, giveaways, bounce houses, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, live music, free food, free haircuts, free school supplies. Hamilton Center has invited local college and high school athletes to mentor and participate.
• July 27. Back-to-School Event at Borrowed Hearts. Borrowed Hearts would like to invite you to bring your children in for FREE Haircuts and School Supplies! Registration required by July 15. 
• July 29, 30, and 31st from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. July 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. Free backpacks and school supplies at Salvation Army Terre Haute. First 500 K-12 qualifying students in Vigo County. (Adults bring valid ID, address, & income. Children bring two forms of ID). They will have free toys and brand new women’s clothing for $1 for one article clothing such as dresses, blouses, shorts, and skirts.
• August 3.Horizon Health Back-to-School Bash in Paris, IL. In 2018, this event included school physicals, sports physicals, and immunizations. Other attractions included games, giveaways, a free photo booth, and face painting. We are awaiting details on the 2019 event.
• August 3 and August 4. Back-to-School Weekend at Highland Church. Join us for our Back to School Weekend at Highland-Church! Saturday kicks off the backpack and school supplies give away. Fun activities and free food for the whole family. Sunday is Highland-KIDS Water Fun Sunday with water balloons, water guns, and more!
• August 4. Back-to-School haircuts at Halcyon on Fort Harrison. Your favorite stylists at Halcyon will be providing FREE HAIRCUTS for k-12 students in Vigo County and the surrounding areas. Mark your calendars for Sunday August 4th, 10a-4p on a walk-in basis. BONUS— they will have school supplies including 60 backpacks to pass out while supplies last!
• August 10. Back to School Carnival at Maple Avenue United Methodist Church. Free food, games, music and face painting!
