How will you spend your spring break? I know the kids will run around outside, ride bikes, play video games, and sleep in, but at some point the parents might want (need?) a few structured activities. Here are our top suggestions for things to do during your Terre Haute and Vigo County Spring Break. Put this guide to good use, and make this year’s spring break staycation the best one yet!
Clay County and Vigo County Spring Break Camps and Classes

March 26-29. Adventure awaits at the YMCAs during spring break camp!
From 6:00am-6:00pm children will have the opportunity to play, explore and grow while making new friends and memories that last a lifetime. Come in your tennis shoes and pack a sack lunch for a day filled with adventure.Breakfast and healthy snacks will be provided daily.
Vigo County campers–bring your swimsuit!
The member rate for Vigo County camp is $100 for the week, and $125 for nonmembers.
Clay County participants pay just $85!
Know of a family with financial need? Don’t let finances keep them from the fun and excellent learning opportunities. You can apply at the front desk of the Clay or Vigo YMCA for financial assistance.

This is also the time to SIGN UP FOR SOCCER AT THE CLAY COUNTY YMCA! Ages 4-14 are welcome to play, grow, and learn at the YMCA youth soccer league.
Cost: $35 for youth members, $70 for non members. Games begin on April 22 and are played on Sunday afternoons. Contact Shane for more information: email@example.com.

Additional Clay County and Vigo County Spring Break Camps and Classes
Camp Navigate. Monday, March 26th through Friday, March 30th From 7:30am to 5:30pm $105.00 for the week *Please prepare a packed lunch* Morning and Afternoon Snack will be provided FIELD TRIP on Wednesday, March 28th from 10:00am to 12:00pm to the Wigwam! Theme days: crazy hair day, inside out day, camp navigate day, comfy day, sports/jersey day.
West Vigo Vikings Baseball Camp. March 26-28. Grades K-8th. Work on hitting, throwing, and fielding. One game played every day!
CASY Spring Break Camp. Monday, March 26th – Thursday, March 29th 8:30AM – 5:30PM. Cost is $50 for the week. We will provide a morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. Bricks 4 Kidz with the Indiana State University Community School of the Arts. Join Bricks 4 Kidz in the morning for “Transformation Creations” or in the afternoon for “World of Amusements Camps. In these camps, children engage educationally and creatively through hands-on building with traditional and technic LEGO bricks. Activities may include standard and motorized models, creative free play, group builds, mosaic pattern making, games, and more.
Camp Griffin Spring Break Day Camp. They will provide bike riding clinics, structured rides, hikes, educational content, and fun games and activities all week at the bike park. Ages 8-14. 8:00 am to 5:00 pm each day. $25 per day or $90 for the full week. Registration by March 23. At the Parks office at 155 Oak St. Call 812-462-3392 for more info and to register.
Hands-on Science: Spring! Drop-in to the Terre Haute Children’s Museum to participate in learning activities from ISU undergraduate students. March 26-30. Students from ISU’s department of education will be at the museum to lead activities from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Spring Break painting, crafts, and watercolor classes at Charm School. Themes include unicorns, felt flowers on wood, and a llama canvas class.
March 26-29. 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Spring Break at the West Branch of the Vigo County Public Library. Registration required. Click links for details.
- Monday: Makey Makeys and make videos using the green screen on the Ipads; Create family portraits; Bring your preschooler for interactive stories, songs, dancing, crafts and play; Learn to play chess and a variety of other board games will also be on hand for group fun; Bingo.
- Tuesday: Paint your own canvas; Origami; Mother Goose on the Loose; Escape Room; Karaoke.
- Wednesday: Control a robotic device (a Sphero SPRK) with code you create – no experience necessary; soap making; stuffed animal sleepover and storytime; Letter Writing; Terre Haute Rocks; Bricks4kidz
- Thursday: Visit with the Alpacas; balloon twisting; make rice balls; Mysteries of Jason magic show.
Special Spring Break Events
March 23. 5:00-10:00 p.m. Kids’ Night Out at the Vigo County YMCA. Ages 18 months-12 Years come in and play while Mom and Dad get a break! The youth team will talk about nutrition at this month’s Kids’ Night Out in Vigo County! Your kids will enjoy games, crafts and activities while learning about the the importance of how healthy habits start early!
March 23, 24, and 25. Children’s Theatre of Terre Haute presents Little Mermaid Jr. at the Indiana Theatre.
March 24. Completely free community block party at the West Vigo IGA. Bounce house, food, and fun!
March 24. 11:30 and 1:00 p.m. Chemistry on Wheels at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Chemistry on Wheels will roll into the museum for two performances celebrating the wonders of chemistry at 11:30am and again at 1:00pm. COW is a project of Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology. Included with admission.
March 24. Shoot from star to star as you listen to music from Mozart’s A Little Night Music, to Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis, from Kernis’ Musica celestis to Schönberg’s gorgeous Transfigured Night with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra.
March 24. 9:30 a.m. Baby Explorer at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Baby Explorer is for ages 0-2 and their caregiver. Engage with your little explorer to nurture early learning through play in a welcoming environment full of socialization opportunities. Your child will learn to interact with you while also learning about our amazing world. Each class we will explore a different topic through books, play, and movement, inviting your little ones to use their minds, bodies, and senses. Included with admission.
March 26. Magical Crafternoon: Unicorns. Stuck at home for Spring Break? Join Charm School for a “Magical Crafternoon”! We are going to have such a fun time making glittery unicorn slime, shrink film unicorn jewelry, and as many other unicorn crafts and activities that we can fit in! We will have a photo props to take pictures with your friends, and eat pizza, cupcakes and drinks! Ages 6 and up.
March 29: 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Community Day at Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Community Day is a day at the Museum for everyone! Admission is just $2 per person all day.
March 31: 4:00 p.m. Clay Youth League Pancake Breakfast. Come support the CYL before their season begins and bring your friends and families to have pancakes and sausage in order to help raise more funding to benefit our local ballpark. Adult Tickets: $8. Child Tickets: $5
March 31: 8:00 p.m. Creed Bratton (from The Office) at Zorah Shrine Nobles and Friends Event Center. Doors open at 7pm – All ages event, recommended as 17 and over. Fans of NBC’s The Office know Creed Bratton as the disturbingly hilarious, popular character of the same name. What most do not know is, not only has he been acting since the late 60s in films such as Mask and Heart Like a Wheel, he’s a bona fide classic rocker extraordinaire and a founding member of the legendary rock band The Grass Roots – makers of hits such as “Let’s Live for Today” and “Midnight Confessions.” Tickets $20 in advance, $27 at the door. Private Meet & Greet (ADDITIONAL to admission) $50.
