Take a peek at the NEW Sports Legends Experience at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis!

One of the biggest expansions to the legendary Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is NOW OPEN! Our family was invited to a preview event of the Sports Legends Experience, and we’re excited to share our experience with you!

Sports Legends Experience at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis

The 7.5-acre addition to the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis has 12 experiences and 3 indoor exhibits all about SPORTS! As someone who is NOT an athlete, I was prepared to be underwhelmed. But OH MY GOODNESS, this exhibit is anything but “underwhelming”… even for non-athletes like me!

Treehouse at the Sports Legends Experience

Our girls played for two and a half hours at the exhibits, and still didn’t get to see it all!

They loved soccer, baseball, racing, basketball, and the fitness path, and can’t wait to go back for tennis, hockey, and golf.

On the fitness path, there were cross-country ski stations that our seven-year-old jumped on and said, “Boy, this is a way to make running fun!”

Soccer at the Sports Legends Exhibit

But the definite highlight for all three girls (ages 2, 5, and 7)? The treehouse (with climbing structures, slides, and lookout posts)! In the words of our five-year-old, “It’s the best treehouse ever.”

It’s so tall that a few of us who are inclined to be afraid of heights may have been the tiniest bit scared. But I know that safety was a top consideration of the museum as they prepared for this expansion.

This beautiful, new exhibit is FREE with admission or a museum membership. (Local readers, the Indy museum is, unfortunately, NOT part of the ASTC passport reciprocal program that is offered by our Terre Haute Children’s Museum.)

Baseball at the Sports Legends Experience

Closed-toe shoes are required, and there are height-restrictions on the pedal cars. A variety of specially designed sports equipment is available to encourage people of all ages and abilities to get into the game.

Our girls keep asking when they’ll get to go back!
