Get ready for one of the biggest events of the year–the 2016 Terre Haute Block Party!
|It’s almost time for one of my favorite Terre Haute events! The 2016 Downtown Terre Haute Block Party is taking place in downtown Terre Haute (go figure!) on August 27th, and the schedule is filled with fun for kids, families, and adults.
7 Highlights of the 2016 Downtown Terre Haute Block Party
Although the majority of the Downtown Terre Haute Block Party events are completely free to you, Downtown Terre Haute has decided to use part of their advertising budget to sponsor this post. You can thank them for making every effort to reach the good citizens of Terre Haute by participating in the Block Party fun!
Wanna know more about the fun planned for this year? Let me share with you a sneak peek!
This year there are TWO kid zones!
Barnes & Noble will have a kids-only root beer garden, games, and a vendor market for kids from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
The Terre Haute Children’s Museum will have fun for kids from 1:00-8:00 p.m.

Are you any good at hopscotch? If so, be sure to register for the second annual Hop the Block Hopscotch Contest! Open hopping will take place from 1:00-4:00 p.m. The hopscotch tournament will take place at 5:00 p.m.
You can also Chalk the Block. This is a free event for all ages. Find out more by checking the update Downtown Terre Haute director, Barbie Moore, shared in our “Free or Cheap Fun” event page!
As a biking family, I look forward to the Bike Rally every year. There are safety checks, bike demonstrations, a limited amount of free helmets, stickers, and a bike raffle. The rally is happening from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
From 1:00-8:00 p.m., all ages are welcome at the Inflatable Park. Tickets are $1 each and the inflatables require 1 or 2 tickets each. Teenagers and adults, from 8:00-10:00 p.m., the inflatable park is off-limits to the little ones. You can bounce without fear of crushing a toddler!
One of the events I’m looking forward to most this year is the outdoor family movie. Hang out on the ISU lawn to watch Monsters University at 8:30 p.m. and The Minions at 10:30 p.m. Free admission, popcorn, and lemonade!
The 2016 Block Party also has an impressive lineup of live entertainment. You can see the full schedule below–kids will probably enjoy Annie and the interactive African Drumming.
