FREE Fun at Family Learning Day!
|Although Family Learning Day is FREE for families, the Vigo County Public Library is spending a portion of its marketing budget on this sponsored post. The event organizers want to reach you, our loyal Haute Happenings readers and friends. The very best way to thank the library staff for their efforts is to attend and have fun at Family Learning Day 2019! If they ask who sent you, please tell them you heard about Family Learning Day on Haute Happenings!
Family Learning Day has quickly become an annual tradition for our family. It’s held during my favorite time of year (if we get lucky, the weather will be perfect for this outdoor event), and it encourages one of my favorite hobbies–reading with kids!
Family Learning Day
September 28 9:00-12:00
Vigo County Public Library
Main Branch – Parking Lot

My favorite part? FREE BOOKS! In past, our oldest daughter has come home with new books such as The Magic Treehouse, Flat Stanley, and Cam Jansen while her younger sisters have walked away with beautiful picture books.
What are we looking forward to this year?
- Learning about the difference between therapy dogs, service dogs, and emotional support dogs with Love on a Leash, as well as the right away to approach and pet a dog.
- Seeing live aquatic creatures, reptiles, small animals and birds with the opportunity to observe, touch, ask questions and answer quiz about each animal with Atlantis Aquatic Gardens.
- Playing with OSMOs with VCPL’s Tech Team
- Bringing home new books to add to our home library
- Trying out bikes of different kinds with Griffin Bike Park

- Breaking boards with Minton’s ATA Black Belt Leadership Academy
- Trying out an instrument petting zoo with the Terre Haute Symphony League
This fun event was created to promote family reading and to encourage families to learn together through enjoyable experiences. Have I mentioned it’s completely free? Now that is an event that I can happily support and promote!
