The Vigo County Public Library summer reading program is your summer bucket list! Where else can you go to earn prizes just for enjoying FREE, local fun with your family!?
This post is proudly brought to you by the Vigo County Public Library. We’re grateful for the library’s support, because their sponsorship helps to keep our site free to readers like you. You can help us thank the library by attending library events and by letting them know you saw their information on HauteHappenings.com! 7 Highlights of the Vigo County Public Library Summer Reading Program
For our family, we have kids in both the 0-5 and 6-11 category. Here are a few highlights we see on the app for our family and yours!
Sign up and receive a free book!
When you sign up for the Summer Reading Program, your kids can automatically come in and choose a free book (to keep) at the library!
Log your reading hours for challenges and prizes. When you hit 300 minutes, you can get a Mochi or a Brag Tag.
Attend masked, socially-distanced events in-person. In-person events are BACK! The library is working hard to find socially-safe options for our community. The Goldilocks and the Three Bears marionette performance on June 11 is one such idea. There’s also outside storytime! Find other great ideas in their summer reading program guide.
Attend digital events with a zoom link. Our lovely library continues to respectfully and sensitively offer a variety of ways to experience their programming. Mother Goose on the Loose is sure to be a hit with the 0-5 age range!
Pick up a kit and enjoy the library experience at home. Registration for the no-knead bread kit opens on June 15th. But hurry! The registration space for these take-home kits WILL fill up quickly!
Find events for adults and teens. The summer reading program isn’t just for little ones! Maybe your family is ready for an at-home or in-person showing of Juneteenth Film: No Time to Waste or a FREE showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” at the Moon-Lite Drive-In Theater on June 28th!
Adventure in the community with the reading program “challenges. Maybe your family would like to….
Visit a farm.
Try birding at the Wabashiki.
