Holiday Lights in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley

There’s a sweet nostalgia associated with a holiday drive to look at lights. Here’s what we’ve found for Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley. Do you know of others?

Holiday and Christmas Lights in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley

If you’re looking for residential lights, one of the best resources we’ve found in 2020 is a new(ish) facebook group called Terre Haute Christmas Light Displays. Local residents are sharing pictures and videos of their hard work and beautiful displays. A few even have special appearances from our favorite holiday characters (like Santa and his elves)!

The famous “Bill Bones” house appears to have decorated for both Halloween AND Christmas in 2020 (usually it’s one holiday or the other per year). As a friend pointed out, at last there’s something unprecedented that’s GOOD in 2020! Need an address? Someone appears to have marked this house as “Christmas lights” in google maps. Smart! They are accepting canned goods as a donation for a local food bank.

What’s better than watching a Christmas light show and getting to take pics with Santa? Nothing! Bring the kids on Friday night (December 18) at 6pm to 8pm to 4220 S. 11th St, Terre Haute to enjoy a great show, visit with Santa, and drink a cup of hot cocoa. Please wear your mask if you visit with Santa. Also they are asking for donations of unopened toys, non-perishable food, or hygiene product to be donated in honor of the Garrett Sands Kindness Project. See a preview in the comments of this thread on the Haute Happenings facebook page.

Old favorites return, including Landscape of Light dancing to the Nutcracker with the historic Lilly House as the backdrop. New this year, Huckleberry Funk’s cover of Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas” will be added to the Landscape of Light. In 2020, this experience is entirely outdoors.
