RECURRING EVENTS IN June 

  • Tuesdays. Pop-Up Tuesday-Recreational Sporting Events with Vigo County Parks and Recreation. Join Rec Coordinator Tuesdays in June from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for some recreational summer fun! Every Tuesday, the Rec Coordinator will be at a different Vigo County Park with various sporting equipment for all ages. Stop by and play! All events are free and open to the public. 
  • Wednesdays (through June 16). Spring Hiking Club at Hawthorn Park. Join Hawthorn Spring Hiking Club Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m.! Hike the trails of Hawthorn Park and J.I. Case Wetland Wildlife Refuge totaling approximately 2.5 – 3 miles. Wear footwear appropriate for spring weather and bring water from home to stay hydrated. FREE for all ages!
  • Wednesdays. Cooking class for kids or Creek Stompin’ at Deming Park. 
  • Fridays. Need food for the weekend? Take home food from Manna from Seven on Fridays at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
  • Fridays. Community dinners at The Bridge church.
  • Saturdays. Visit the Terre Haute Outdoor Farmers Market at The Meadows.

May 27-June 5th. Banks of the Wabash Festival featuring “Luehrs’ Ideal Rides,” live music, and craft market.

Wednesday, June 2. Mother Goose on the Loose via zoom with the Vigo County Public Library. 

Thursday, June 3. Summer Learning Lab with the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Super spies! Learning Lab is a series of workshops offered for children 1st-6th grade to explore a favorite STEM topic. Each session puts children into the role of scientist, introduces them to an expert who will share their passion, involves lots of hands-on experiments, and includes a brain break playing in the Museum.

Friday, June 4. First Friday is BACK! Get excited for family-friendly activities such as jumbo bowling, giant checkers, bubbles, yard pong, washer toss, ladder ball, sidewalk chalk, and soccer.  

You can also enjoy classic First Friday fun such as outdoor dining, live music, and face painting! 

Saturday, June 5. 12-4 pm. Rain date: June 6th. Celebrate the 100th Birthday of Deming Park. Vintage car show, games, puppet show, pottery demonstration, penny candy, food, ice cream, train rides for only 25 cents!

Saturday, June 5. 3pm-8pm. Grand opening of Pride Center of Terre Haute. The Pride Center of Terre Haute invites you to join them for a day of family-friendly fun as they celebrate Pride Month and the Grand Opening of the community center.

Saturday, June 5. Nelly Live in Concert at The Mill Terre Haute. 

Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6. Free fishing days with Indiana DNR. No fishing license or trout stamp needed to fish public waters on these days. 

Sunday, June 6. Indiana Exotic Pet Expo. 10 am-3pm. Vigo County Fairgrounds. Admission only $1 per person. 

Sunday, June 6. Art in the Alley at Haute House Flats. Fundraiser for the Swope includes previews, tours, art, auction, food, drink, music, spa.   

Monday, June 7. First Day of FREE running club for kids at Deming Park. Find more summer camps and clinics here.

Tuesday, June 8. Leap into Science: Light and Shadow Preschool Workshop via Zoom with the Vigo County Public Library. 

Thursday, June 10. First Congregational Church “Grab and Go” Strawberry Festival. Get “The Works” for $5! 

Friday, June 11. Goldilocks and the Three Bears Marionette Performance. As the curtain rises, this classic tale of a family of bears & a young trespasser comes to life with vibrant scenery & hand-carved marionettes presented by Stevens Puppets. This program is taking place on Friday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. on the Library Lawn.

Friday, June 11. Hats Off to Broadway with the Terre Haute Symphony League. Enjoy some of Broadway’s most beloved songs performed by Terre Haute native and soprano, Caroline Goodwin, alongside THSO Principal Keyboard, Tim Stephenson.

Saturday, June 12. Dads Matter Coalition’s 1st Annual Cookout. Deming Park. Food, door prizes, live music, frisbees, train rides, pool passes. Please RSVP for this event. 

Saturday, June 12. Antique Camper Rally is coming to Fowler Park campgrounds June 10th-June 12th. Take walk through vintage campers during the open house hours Saturday, June 12th 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Campers will be onsite Thursday, June 10th – Saturday, June 12th. Get outdoors and experience the variety of unique and quirky recreational vehicles used in the past and present. 

Saturday, June 12. Griffin Bike Park Lake Jump.  The event will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. directly following the Pump Track Series at Griffin Bike Park. Participants will register for a one-hour timeslot and will be allowed to use the lake jump as many times as possible during that one-hour period. There is a 10 participant maximum for each timeslot. Participants MUST register ahead of time so don’t delay!

Monday, June 14. Zoom storytime with the Vigo County Public Library. Ages 0-5: Build your child’s early literacy skills, develop their fine-motor abilities, and encourage a lifelong love of reading 

Tuesday and Wednesday, June 15 and 16. Wabash Valley Youth Leadership Summit. Stay in dorms at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, meet senators, explore Indianapolis, learn teamwork at The Escape Room, and make new friends. 

Pools, beaches, splash pads, and aquatic centers are OPEN! Beat the summer heat with our local guide to water fun!

Wednesday, June 16. Juneteenth Film: No Time to Waste Home Viewing.  No Time to Waste is presented in partnership with the Vigo County Public Library and the Vigo County Parks Department to celebrate and commemorate Juneteenth.

Saturday, June 19. Summer in the Village. Join the parks department for “Summer in the Village” as their cabin caretakers open up their cabins for all to explore and demonstrate early 19th century skills and crafts. FREE and open to the public. 

Saturday, June 19. No Time to Waste viewing at Hawthorn Park. No Time to Waste is presented in partnership with the Vigo County Public Library and the Vigo County Parks Department to celebrate and commemorate Juneteenth.

Saturday, June 19. Intro to Blacksmithing. Work with experienced blacksmiths to learn how to operate a blacksmith forge, understand the parts of an anvil, and the uses for various hand tools in the blacksmith shop. Ages 10 and up. $60 per participant. 

Saturday, June 19. Terre Haute Day 2021. In honor of Juneteenth weekend, celebrate with free food, good music, kids’ activities, vendor booths, and guest speakers. 

Saturday, June 19. WaterTower Estates 4th Annual Luau! Beat the heat with a slushee and cool island vibes. 

Sunday, June 20. Kayak Rec Event at Fowler Park. Join the VCPRD Sunday, June 20th at Fowler Park from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. where our Rec Coordinator and Natural Resource Programmer will be giving hour-long informational kayak tours of Ruble Lake!

Monday, June 21. Outside storytime with the Vigo County Public Library. Ages 0-5: Sing songs, learn rhymes, and practice your hopping skills with your child at this frog-tastic storytime! Dress for outdoor, socially-distanced play, weather permitting. Library outdoor events will be socially-distanced and masks will be required.

Friday, June 25. Movie in the Park: Emperor’s New Groove. Bring your family, friends, blankets and chairs and join us for Vigo County Parks & Recreation Department’s Movie in the Park summer series with DeeJay Danny Wayne! The first movie to kick off the 2021 summer Movie in the Park series is “The Emperor’s New Groove!” Concessions for purchase begin at 8:30 p.m. Movie starts at SUNDOWN (approx. 9:30 p.m.). FREE admission!

Friday, June 25. Kids’ Night Out at the Vigo County YMCA. Bring a towel, swimsuit, and a smile!  

Sunday, June 27. Grand opening of Ferm Fresh in 12 points. They produce kombucha, sauerkraut, kimchi, hot sauce, salad dressings. Everything is probiotic and gut friendly!

Monday, June 28. The Birds at the Moon-Lite. Ages 13 & Up: Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thriller. Each car will receive free admission and the first 100 cars to arrive will receive a complimentary popcorn. Rated PG-13. Gates open at 9:00 p.m.

Tuesday, June 29. Early Explorers in the Park with the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Bubble Play! Early Explorers is for ages 0-2 and their caregiver. Engage with your little explorer to nurture early learning through play in a welcoming environment full of socialization opportunities. Your child will learn to interact with you while also learning about our amazing world. Each class we will explore a different topic through books, play, and movement, inviting your little ones to use their minds, bodies and senses.
