8 Vigo County Public Library Services that Lift our Spirits
|This is a sponsored post, but our love and praise for the library is 100% authentic! Our pandemic year would have been much emptier without the services and books provided by the Vigo County Public Library.
This season, many of us will find ourselves working remotely, schooling remotely, home due to exposure, home with our households for the holidays….in other words, we’ve all been and will likely continue to be home more than usual.
8 Vigo County Public Library Services That Lift Our Spirits
“Is this order for takeout or delivery?” While you can’t order a pizza from the library, you can do contactless pick-up OR have your books delivered to your front door.
Screen time, but educational. Launchpad tablets are pre-loaded with content of various themes for different ages. Themes include early literacy, STEM/STEAM, numbers, dinosaurs, alphabet puzzles, numbers, movies, and more!
In the mood for a good e-book? Check out the curated collections on the Libby app. It’s free to use with your library card! Little fans of Star Wars have a collection all their own. Teens (and parents like me who like YA fiction) will like this fiction collection.
No e-reader? No worries! There are kindles loaded with great content available for you to borrow.
Feeling festive? Season’s reading to you and yours! Hoopla (another app that gives you FREE access to great content with your library card) has holiday music collections!
Take home an event! Register for the free library events and then collect your “kits” from curbside pick up! We’re looking forward to the “Beyond the Classroom” Invisible Ink experience and “Wrap it Up: Sustainable Gift Wrapping”!
When you tell people, “I need some space” you might not be thinking of a private office, but (if you are!) the library is here for that, too. Vigo County Public Library offers six Collaborative Spaces—private, uncluttered rooms with reliable internet that you can reserve for your interview or appointment. They’ll provide the equipment, including an HD webcam with a microphone, and help you with any technology issues that you might encounter. All you need is the email containing your meeting link and the password.
Why fight the wifi at home? The library parking lots have free wifi for when you need a mom break, access for school, or to put your next good read on hold for curbside pick up.
Of course this isn’t the first time we’ve professed our love for the library. Check out 8 of our favorite library “perks” here!
