Our summer camp guide would be incomplete without activities for the littlest learners! Adventures (Infants to 18 months): Peek-a-boo! I Love You! Inspired by songs and baby games from many countries around the world and the special love between a parent and a child. Baby and caregiver participate together.
Adventures (18 months to 3 years): Beach Days! Take an imaginary fun-filled trip to the beach! You and your child will enjoy pretending to play in the sand, be sea creatures and play with beach balls in a pretend ocean. Each lesson features singing, movement activities and stories. Crafts every other week.
Playshops (3 to 5 years): PlayShops are fun, educational sessions that include songs, movement activities, a story and crafts all centered on a theme. Each PlayShop is unique since each PlayShop has a different theme. Child and caregiver participate in the entire class together.
World Adventures (5 to 7 years): Learn about and experience the cultures of five countries through the music, crafts and food of each of these countries. Each class includes singing, movement activities, games, crafts and snacks from each of the five different countries. World Adventures is a week-long camp. Children attend two hours each day Monday through Friday. Children attend without the caregiver.
Summer Classes for Babies, Toddlers, and Preschoolers
Nature Art. June 25 – 29. 9 am – 11 am. Students in this class will create art pieces that are inspired and made from materials in nature. Students will create a flower mandala, observational drawings from life, a bird from clay, painting and more.
Art Apprentice Box. July 16 – 20. 9 am – 11 am. This class introduces young students to a variety of art materials and teaches them the fundamentals of the creative process. With a different project every day, they will learn to use a wide variety of media including pencils, crayons, watercolor and clay. Children will also decorate and personalize a unique portfolio to hold their works of art that they will bring home at the end of the week.
Charm School will host Process Art classes for ages 3 and up (with a caregiver) every Monday and Tuesday starting June 18 and ending July 17 from 8:45-9:30AM for $15 per class.
Children will have the chance to learn about animals and nature. Parents are required to stay with children. Open to ages 2-5 years old. Children need to be registered before the day of class. Call the Torner Center at 812-232-0147 to register. Cost: $5 per child. This class takes place on May 14, June 11, July 9, and August 13.
Terre Haute Children’s Museum
Pre-K Explorers. This camp is for our youngest friends (ages 3-5 years). The age-appropriate three-day session will allow young campers to have fun exploring living things in our neighborhood. Discover what is living, how it grows, and what you can do to make your neighborhood a better place. Children must be potty-trained. Cost is $75
Preschool Clay Classes at Deming Park
- June 16 at 9:30 a.m. Preschool Clay ages 2-5 (older siblings welcome) Play in Clay- Make your own creation and learn about the properties of clay
- June 19 at 10:30 a.m. Preschool Clay ages 2-5 (older siblings welcome) Fairy House for Gardens/ and 6:00- 8:00 Youth Clay grades K-8 Animal Wind Chimes
- June 22 at 10:30 a.m. Preschool Clay Class ages 2-5 (older siblings welcome) Finger Puppets
- July 9 at 9:30 a.m. Preschool Clay class ages 2-5 (older siblings welcome) Mosaic Tiles
- July 18 at 9:30 a.m. Preschool Class ages 2-5 (older siblings welcome) Ceramic Rattles
