8 Things Kids and Families will Love at the 2015 Downtown Terre Haute Block Party!

It’s almost time for one of my favorite Terre Haute events! The Downtown Block Party is taking place downtown (obviously), and the schedule is filled with fun for kids, families, and adults.

Wanna know more? Let me share with you a little sneak peek!

Something new this year is the “Hop the Block” hopscotch event. There will be open hop from 1-4 p.m. and a tournament at 5 p.m.

Artists (and wannabe artists) will be chalking the block with an “Under the Sea” theme. Don’t forget to look down as you’re walking around!

One of the areas that I’m most excited about is the Kid Zone at Barnes and Noble! Balloons, face painting, bubbles, bounce houses, root beer garden, and a PETTING ZOO! Did I mention it’s all free? How could I possibly miss out on this kind of fun?

For $5, you can jump as many times as you want in the inflatable park. There will be a 24 foot water slide, an obstacle course, water balls, and more!

As a bike-lover, I love that there’s a bike rally. There will be trick demonstrations, an obstacle course challenge, snacks, stickers, helmet fittings and giveaways, and a bike raffle.

My girls are going through a horse phase, so I’m excited that there will be free carriage rides from 6-9 p.m. These rides start and end at the Children’s Museum.

Speaking of the Terre Haute Children’s Museum…the museum staff and a team of Ivy Tech volunteers have put together a complete schedule with fun space activities for kids. Inside the museum y ou can make moon sand, a constellation viewer, and space slime. Outside of the museum, kids will be making rockets, gravity art, and a crater drop. They’ll also have special visitors who will be painting faces and twisting balloon animals. Have I told you lately how much I love our museum?

And I’m still not done! There’s also New Wave Pro Wrestling, a corn hole tournament, and FIVE stages with live music! As I said, this is a weekend you’ll be glad you stayed in Terre Haute.

(I’ll be sharing updates and reminders all week on the Haute Happenings facebook page. Don’t forget to share these facebook updates to help spread the word!)
