Beaches in Indiana and the Wabash Valley

In addition to our guide to pools and splash pads in around Terre Haute, we’ve also put together this post with local beach options! Yes, it’s true! You don’t have to go all the way to Florida just to build sand castles or work on your tan in the sand! There are beaches in Indiana (and one in Illinois)!

Indiana beaches

Beach at Fowler Park

There’s a public park beach in Terre Haute! Fowler Park beach has recently been updated and will be open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. This beach is free! No lifeguard on duty.

Hawthorn Park beach closed in 2018.

Lazy L Lake

Lazy L Lake beach is a new-to-me swimming place in West Terre Haute! 12-7 p.m. daily. 545 Lazy Lake Road. Head north on 150 towards St. Mary’s, gravel entrance will be on east side of road. Lifeguard on duty. Adult supervision required for all children. Roped off Baby/Toddler splash zone. There is also a floating dock to jump into 15 foot deep water. $2.00 for adults, $1.00 for children, children under 3 are free.

Twin Lakes Public Beach

Indoor Beach in Covington

Did you know that Indiana has an indoor (no water) beach?! Read all about it here!  Sadly, the indoor beach closed.

Indiana Dunes

Indiana has one of the best beaches in the country! (Read more HERE.)  It’s a bit of a drive, so turn it into a weekend trip!
