Friday, August 30. Bourbon and Blues with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. Join the THSO for an evening of bourbon tastings and live music performed by St. Louis Blues artist Brian Curran with Solly Burton & Brent McPike at Hulman Center on August 30! Enjoy exclusive tastings from multiple bourbon brands, a BBQ buffet catered by Butta’s Better BBQ, and a cash bar catered by The Verve. All proceeds directly benefit the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra’s mission of providing Great Music! Close to Home. Not a bourbon drinker? Purchase a Non-Bourbon ticket and enjoy your favorite drink at the cash bar. Complimentary water and lemonade will be available.
Friday, August 30-September 2. Little Italy Festival in Clinton. Parade, fireworks, grape stomping, pizza dough toss, Italian singers, family movie night (Luca and Elemental), and more!
Friday, August 30-September 2. Casey Popcorn Festival in Casey, IL. Free popcorn all weekend! Magicians, animals shows, carnival, and more! Popcorn Parade on Main happens on Saturday, August 31st.

Saturday, August 31. Lovable Sister Pups Bluey and Bingo Party at the Vigo County Public Library. Are you ready for a wackadoodle party with the Heelers? Join Bluey™ and Bingo, two loveable pups from Australia, for selfies and games inspired by their hit series! Freeze and pose the Heeler sisters with the Magic Xylophone, play a frantic balloon game of Keepy-Uppy, or put your friends into Dance Mode.

Thursday, August 1. Free showing of We Are Marshall at the Moon Lite Drive-In Theater.
Thursday, August 1. Life Size Battleship on the lawn at the Vigo County Public Library. Will you sink the opposing team or be sunk in a life-size game of Battleship? Use yoga mats to lay your team’s ships, then toss a beach ball across the barrier to try to hit the other side’s ships. Multiple sessions will be available.
Thursday, August 1. MagiKids at the Vigo County Public Library. Start your child on the journey to becoming a powerful wizard with Magic: The Gathering, a turn-based trading card game, and MagiKids! Developed to introduce young players to the concepts of Magic: The Gathering, MagiKids encourages participants to sort and build their own custom deck of spells, creatures, and artifacts before they challenge other players to a game that relies on skill just as much as luck and that encourages them to use critical thinking skills to overcome the pitfalls of random chance.

Monday, August 5. Lego Lab with the Vigo County Public Library. Ages 6–11: Challenge your child’s construction skills, teamwork abilities, and creativity at Lego® Lab! Your child can attempt the monthly challenge or build their own designs. At the end of the evening, spend a few minutes touring everyone’s designs and learn how others solved problems in their own builds. Parents and caregivers with children under 9 should assist with building.
Tuesday, August 6. Teddy Bear Picnic at the WEST Branch of the Vigo County Public Library. Ages 0–12: Your child and their favorite stuffed friend are in for a treat at the Teddy Bear Picnic. Spend the afternoon playing games, painting with colorful popsicles, and listening to stories and music at an old-fashioned picnic!

Saturday, August 10. Back to School with the Terre Haute Farmer’s Market. The market will be giving out bags that kids can fill with school supplies donated by our vendors. This week’s GrowTH partner is the Vigo County School Corporation, who will have a fun scavenger hunt – and participants get a $3 voucher to buy some fresh produce from the farmers! Plus, they’ll have Girl Scouts, On My Way Pre-K, and Girls On The Run adding to the fun. You never know what else might pop up, so be sure to join us on Saturday, August 10th between 8am and noon!

Ages 19 & Up: Found on Aztec calendars to Instagram posts, mandalas—the Sanskrit word for ‘circles’—are a centuries-old art form whose creation can reduce stress, relax your mind, and encourage self-expression. At this session of Art Hacks, turn an ordinary rock into a colorful and mesmerizing piece of geometric art using basic painting techniques.
Saturday, August 10. Touch a Truck to benefit Dancing with the Terre Haute Stars. Load up your family in the car and start your engines to head over to The Mill for Dancing with the Terre Haute Star’s Touch A Truck event! Families will be able to explore various vehicles by climbing into, on and around. You’ll see and get to climb behind the wheel of police cars and firetrucks, ambulances, garbage trucks and construction vehicles! Tractors! Yes, there will be tractors. Touch-A-Truck gives your little ones the opportunity to get in the driver’s seat and touch the trucks they love so much—everything from big rigs, to farm trucks, to rescue vehicles.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Power of the Purse, United Way is partnering with Moon Lite Drive-In to host a free movie night dedicated to supporting educators and children of the Wabash Valley. Admission is free! Featured films: Legally Blonde and Barbie. Arrive early to be one of the first 100 attendees and get free popcorn.

In the original 1988 film Beetlejuice, a ghostly couple’s peaceful afterlife falls apart when the Deetz family purchases their beloved home and makes drastic changes. Our cabin caretakers will open their cabins for you to explore and to demonstrate a variety of 19th century skills and crafts. New this year, each month will have a focus on a different craft or skill for you to learn. June’s focus is going to be on soap making, candle dipping, sewing/weaving, etc.! All ages are welcome and admission is free!

Whether you’re an experienced dungeon crawler or new to the world of Dungeons & Dragons, Adventures Unbound will introduce you to new adventures and other travelers! Each session will focus on a self-contained quest, with dice and pre-created character sheets available for those who require them.

Saturday, August 24. Kids Clothing and Toy Swap at Maryland Community Church 12 Points. This event is free. Everyone who donates kids items during either of the drop off sessions will receive a ticket to enter and shop at 11am on Saturday. We will also have free food, drinks and goodie bags for those who attend. If you fill out an info card, available only at the drop off site, you will additionally be registered into our raffle to win one of several gift cards.
Saturday, August 24. Diversity Walk 2024. The 1.5-mile walk will begin and end at the corner of 6th and Ohio, in the First Financial Bank parking lot, in downtown Terre Haute. Registration and t-shirt pickup will open at 9 a.m., opening remarks will take place at 9:45 a.m., and the walk will begin at 10:00 a.m. Following the walk, participants are invited to stay for a brief program and an opportunity to come together in unity to celebrate the differences that make our community stronger. Registration is FREE and includes a T-shirt. People can register as an individual, or they can create a team for their business, organization, or group. Registration is available online at www.diversitywalk.org.

Replay Runway Fashion Show. reTHink’s annual fundraising-fashion gala is a fun event where local celebrities participate in a contest to raise funds for reTHink while also showing off their custom-made outfits from recycle/waste materials! We will have two winners! Our GREEN MAJESTY for 2024 will be the person who raises the most funds for reTHink! The JUDGE’S CHOICE winner will be chosen based on the judges’ evaluation of the outfit and presentation! Expect a mouth-watering assortment of international cuisine, buffet-style! As well as a captivating display of upcycled plastic (see what we do to keep plastic waste out of landfills and oceans longer) and select items from our Zero-Waste Store!

Ages 16 & Up: Whether you want to build your own zoo, trade resources to grow your settlement, or create beautiful mosaics, Tabletopia has the perfect game for you! Every month at Tabletopia, Terre Haute Tabletop will introduce new players to contemporary board games and provide skilled players with a regular gaming session, new challenges, and a connection to Terre Haute’s board game community.
