Whether you’re looking for an entry-level commitment or are serious about honing athletic skills, summer is a great time to stay active through sports! Check out what the Wabash Valley has to offer in 2024.

When you enroll, please write/mention that you heard about their events on Haute Happenings. This will tell the coordinators that they need to send us their info! (Athletic camp details are traditionally the last to finalize and the hardest to find.)

FIGHTIN’ ENGINEERS ELITE TRAINING AND PROSPECT CAMP

The Fightin’ Engineers Elite Training and Prospect Camp is designed to help advanced players with their position specific skills and will give players insight into playing volleyball at the next level.

Campers will experience similar training and drills used in the Rose-Hulman Volleyball program. Players that are attending as prospects will get a personalized evaluation from our coaching staff. This feedback will inform players of things they can continue to work on to improve their game with tactical and technical instruction. This camp will include a Question & Answer session presented by current players for those interested in learning more about playing volleyball at the next level.

In addition to the camp, we will offer an optional campus preview day on July 21st before the first session. This preview will include a campus tour and admissions presentation for all attendees interested.

  • Summer Camps with Rose-Hulman Volleyball. The Little Engineers Camp (for grades 2-5) on July  is designed to give young players their first exposure to the basic skills and strategies of the game of volleyball. This camp stresses fundamentals, while giving fun and enthusiastic instruction. The All Skills Camp (for grades 6-12) will focus on skill development in every aspect of the game, as well as full team drills and competitive games for skill application. The Fightin’ Engineers Elite Training and Prospect Camp (for grades 10-12) on is designed to help advanced players with their position specific skills and will give players insight into playing volleyball at the next level.
  • Calling all high school volleyball players! Join SMWC for elite-level training and fun this summer! $100 per camper. T-shirt included! Camps for girls and boys in high school.
  • Ashlee Pritchard Volleyball Camps at ISU. Sycamore Kids’ Camp for grades K-4 on July 21.  This camp will be a great introduction to the sport of volleyball.  We will overview the basic skills of Passing, Hitting and Serving.  This will be a fast paced fun environment! T-shirt included with Registration. Middle School Camp on July 21 and 22 is designed specifically to train the skills of hitting, setting and back court play. Hitters, setters and defensive specialists  will be separated and grouped during the first segment of the camp according to position and skill level. Elite Camp for grades 8-12 on July 23-24 and is designed specifically to train the skills of hitting, setting and back court play. Attacking, passing, and serving camps for grades 8-12 to focus on specific skills.
  • Summer Volleyball League with Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.
  • Summer Camps and Clinics with COA Volleyball. Drop-in clinics designed for girls in grades 2-5 and 6-8. $10 cash at the door. Summer clinics for boys in grades 9-12. Summer camps with COA volleyball are typically 4 evenings each for grades 2-5 and grades 6-8.

Track/Running/Speed

  • New in 2025! Viking in Training Run Club. Join us in the first elementary school running camp for 3rd-5th graders! This camp will take place the week after school is let out June 9th- June 13th from 10-12pm. Snacks included, running activities, and a 1-mile race on Friday for parents to cheer on their athletes! A T-shirt will be provided to all athletes.
  • Speed U Track Club.Get faster and stronger during summer!
  • 2025 Lace It Up! Kids Running Program is a free summer running program for kids ages 4-13. The 2025 program will run from June 9 — 30, with the first session on Monday, June 9. Kids Running Program meets Mondays and Thursdays, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Lions 3 Shelter in Deming Park. Participants will then run in The Mile which will be held July 4.
  • Brazil Rotary Club Health Kids Fun Run. Free fitness activity program for kids age 5-12. There are 8 practices leading up to a 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday May 10. Practices start at the cow palace and will include a guest speaker and running. Practices are not mandatory, but are highly encouraged.
  • THIRST Summer Speed Agility Camp. Looking to improve speed? Agility? Cutting technique? Improve acceleration and deceleration mechanics? The THIRST Summer Speed And Agility Camp is aimed to improve all these qualities over the course of four group training sessions. Training sessions will be held outside, to work on quickness, power, speed, and explosion for a variety of sports. Sports that can benefit include football, basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, volleyball, as well as track and field athletes.

  • Terre Haute North Youth Wrestling Camp. June 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13.  No experience needed! Wear athletic clothing and join this event that focuses on basic conditioning, strength training, and having fun!

Golf

  • First Tee Indiana. Formed in 2018, First Tee – Indiana in Greater Terre Haute is one of the newest Indiana program locations. The playing league details: Ages 7-9 will play 6 to 9 holes. Ages 10-18 will play 9 holes. There will be a 2 1/2 hour time limit. Each participant must be able to walk 9 holes pushing or carrying golf clubs, unless we have notified beforehand. Parents can watch and cheer on their golfer! There is an option to sign up for all of them and you will get a First Tee – Indiana polo.Calling at Greater Terre Haute First Tee kids and teens! If you are registered for a First Tee class in the Spring, Summer, or Fall of 2025, Mark’s Par 3 Golf Course is inviting you to come and play their golf course on Mondays through the year at anytime. There will be NO CHARGE for participants who show their First Tee bag tag to the staff inside the pro shop. This is a great opportunity offered by Mark’s Par 3 for our junior golfers.   • Crossroads Cyclery Summer Day Camp: We will provide bike riding clinics, structured rides, hikes, educational content, and fun games and activities all week at the bike park. Be sure to pack clothes to be outdoors, bug spray, sunscreen and a sack lunch. We will have some downtime after lunch and will provide some drinks and snacks.

Sample/Conditioning:

  • Basketball, volleyball, tackle football, cheer, and flag football at the Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club.
  • Thirst gym youth performance camp. Looking to get your young athlete introduced to strength, conditioning, and performance training? The THIRST Youth Performance Camp is aimed to improve strength, speed, power, agility, core strength, and mobility. Training sessions will provide an introductory and fun way into the strength and conditioning room for youth athletes.
  • Acorn Youth Triathlon Club. Swimming, cycling, and running! Starting June 2-July 12.
  • KE Camps at the Country Club of Terre Haute. Open to guests and non-members! Ages 5-12. Activities include golf, tennis, swimming, arts & crafts, group games, pickleball, and more!

  • Super hero camp at Teresa’s School of Dance. Registration available at the studio! June 16, 17, and 18,
  • 2025 Summer Dance Camps at Academy of Dance “Try Everything Dance Camp”-This camp is designed to give the student a taste of all the dance styles offered at Academy of Dance. Throughout the week students will be given lessons in ballet, modern, tap, and jazz and will offer a studio showing on Friday for family and friends. A light snack break and craft time will be provided daily. Since the student is just “trying out” different styles, special shoes are not needed for this week. Socks can replace ballet slippers and jazz shoes. Dress shoes can replace tap shoes. Modern is done in bare feet. Leotard and tights are preferred. Dance skirt optional.
  • Summer Dance Camps at Nancy Sauer School of Theatrical Dancing. 3 day dance camps with themes such as princess, Wicked, and Tik Tok, and 1 day camps for ages 5-9 and 3-7.
  • Indiana Invasion All-Star Dance Camp. 6 weeks of summer hip hop classes for ages 4 and up.
