  3. Sign up for a haunted walking tour of Terre Haute. Sins and Spirits: Haunted History Walking Tour of Terre Haute is a one-hour walk around the city of Terre Haute. Along the way, we will stop at 5 locations with ties to Terre Haute’s brewing history and its days as Sin City. We will discuss the spirits that inhabit each location as well as their interactions with the living. Ages 16+, $15.
  4. Drive to the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival. Indiana’s largest festival always starts on the 2nd Friday in October and is nationally known as one of the largest. Enjoy visiting communities throughout the county with a wide array of shopping and a variety of food that is sure to please everyone. Whether you go for the covered bridges, the food, or the yard sales along the way, there’s something for everyone at Indiana’s most famous festival!
  5. Watch the ISU homecoming parade. This year, ISU’s homecoming coincides with fall break in Vigo County and Clay County. Families love the ISU homecoming parade; it’s one of the biggest and longest parades in Terre Haute!
  6. Need all-day childcare while school is out? Check out Fall Break Care at the Vigo County YMCA. Children in kindergarten through sixth grade in need of day care while school is out are welcome to come to the Y for the day! Clay County friends, the Clay County YMCA has an option for you, too!
  7. Try Family Yoga at The Maple Center for Integrative Health. Parents and their children are invited to join our family yoga series designed for yogis of all ages. Instructor Ellie Templeton will be leading parents and kids through basic yoga poses, breathing techniques, simple meditation and relaxation. $5/participant or $20/family.
  8. Fly into the Fly-In Cafe for a  pancake breakfast with styrofoam pumpkin carving, coloring activities, costume contest, and all kinds of fun. Kids meals $7.00 all you can eat silver dollar pancakes and sausage links or bacon, juice or milk. Adults $11.00 and will be all you can eat pancakes sausage links or bacon and choice of beverage.
  9. Join the free Supper at the Center on Sunday nightsFree Community Dinner  sponsored by Highland-Church at the West Vigo Community Center. Everyone is welcome!
  10. Head to Sycamore Winery for a Fall Harvest Party. Live music from The Whiskey Drifters, fall inspired drinks, bonfires, free hayrides and food from ShewDogs BBQ. This event is free and open for all ages.
  11. Celebrate with a garden inauguration/cookout Hosted by Rethink, Inc. Celebrate the transformation of an empty lot in the Ryves Neighborhood into a beautiful habitat for butterflies and other pollinators. They have been hard at work creating artworks, maze, ordering seeds, and and want to show it off to you!
  12. Head to the Vigo County Public Library for storytime, a Safe Sitter class, or a virtual reality experience. The library’s calendar is full of fun for the whole family!
