Watch Freaky Friday with our partners at Terre Haute Community Theater! When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again. Freaky Friday, a new musical based on the celebrated novel by Mary Ridgers and the hit Disney films, is a heartfelt, comedic, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. By spending a day in each other’s shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another’s struggles, learn self-acceptance, and realize the immeasurable love and respect that bond a mother and daughter. Rated PG.

Thursday, March 12. Pokemon Creation at VCPL Main. Ages 6–15: Who’s that Pokémon? You decide at Pokémon Creation! Use a premade template to design a unique Pokémon, complete with stats, special moves, type, description, region, and even a custom evolution line. 

Thursday, March 12. Sweet Reads Book Club: Bite by Bite at The Magpies’ Nest with VCPL. Bite by Bite: Nourishments and Jamborees is a collection of personal essays by Aimee Nezhukumatathil that uses food as a way to examine memory, culture, and everyday life. Moving between childhood, family, travel, and the natural world, Nezhukumatathil reflects on how meals and ingredients connect to identity, place, and belonging. The book invites discussion not just about food, but about how small, ordinary moments carry history, meaning, and connection. Enjoy a sweet treat, good company, and a great book every month at the Sweet Reads Book Club.

Thursday, March 12. Read to Walter at VCPL 12 Points. Ages 6-12: Is your child uncomfortable reading out loud? Maybe they just need a friendly ear—and Walter the Goldendoodle is ready to listen. Walter is a licensed therapy dog from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs who’s eager to hear a good story and whose calm presence will build your reluctant reader’s confidence. 

Thursday, March 12. Veggie Art at VCPL 12 Points. Ages 5–9: Turn food into fabulous art at Veggie Art! Cut shapes into potatoes or smear finger paint onto a carrot to create custom stamps for a one-of-a-kind creation.

Thursday, March 12. Candy Sushi at VCPL Main. Ages 10–18: Make your own sweet sushi at Candy Sushi. Use Rice Krispies, Swedish Fish, and Fruit Roll-Ups to learn sushi-style rolling, then build, taste, and show off your creations.

Friday, March 13. Nurture the Neighborhood with Amanda Perry at VCPL 12 Points. Your health care doesn’t come with a map. Between forms, phone calls, and appointments, it’s easy to feel stuck or unsure about what to do next. At Nurture the Neighborhood, Union Hospital’s Certified Community Health Worker Amanda Perry is available to help you sort through questions, understand your options, and identify next steps that make sense for you. Whether you’re managing an ongoing condition, trying to navigate the system, or just don’t know where to start, you can get one-on-one guidance and connections to local resources that support your health and well-being.

Friday, March 13. Stained Glass Monstera Leaf (ages 16+) at ISU CSA. Do you love the luscious leaves you find on monstera plants, but struggle to keep them alive? Join us for this amazing class where we will learn how to cut, grind, foil, and solder a beautiful monstera leaf perfect for hanging in your window. Previous experience is helpful, but not required. All materials will be provided. Makers will be required to wear safety goggles and closed-toed shoes.

Friday, March 13. Preschool Storytime at VCPL 12 Points. Ages 3–5: Build confidence and classroom-ready skills at Preschool Storytime. Each session blends stories, songs, movement, and simple activities that encourage listening, vocabulary growth, and following along as part of a group.

Friday, March 13. 3D Print Night at VCPL West. All Ages: Learn how to take your ideas from concept to creation at 3D Print Night! At this interactive demonstration of the West Branch Library’s 3D printer, you’ll journey through every phase of designing a print—from the inception of an idea to a polished product. 

Friday March 13-15. Dead Lucky haunted house hosted by Shattered Nightmares. 

Saturday, March 14. Watercolor Landscape Class for 16+ with ISU CSA. Join us for a one day Watercolor class where we will learn the basics of watercolor painting, and create a gorgeous painting together! No experience required, all materials provided, and adults and teens ages 16 and up are welcome.

We love to attend the parade, but that’s not the only March fun St. Patrick School of the Terre Haute Deanery is hosting!

Everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day – and the Saturday before – when you’re joining the fun St. Patrick Parish! Deck yourself in green and practice your best Irish accent for a day filled with family friendly Irish events, along with an evening of adult fun and music!

Saturday, March 14. Dinosaurs Love Pi! Come by the Terre Haute Children’s Museum for a roar-some day of dinosaurs, math, and hands-on discovery! You and the kids can explore hands-on activities throughout the museum inspired by Pi Day, math, and science, while learning how math connects to the world around us, and enjoy a day where STEM meets Jurassic-sized fun! And get here early to celebrate the day with free mini-pies to fuel your play! The highlight of the day will be three live, interactive shows by FelleREXpress Dinosaur Encounters, bringing realistic dinosaurs and engaging storytelling to the museum. Showtimes are scheduled for 11am, 1pm, & 3pm.

Saturday, March 14. Art Hacks: Abstract Art at VCPL Main. Experiment with shape, color, and texture as you create abstract wall art on canvas. Use cardboard forms, paint, and collage-style materials to layer, rearrange, and respond as you go.

Saturday, March 14. Game Day: Food Chain Magnate at VCPL Main. Ages 15 & Up: Build your fast food empire with Food Chain Magnate. Compete for customers by hiring staff, launching ad campaigns, and managing resources in a deep, highly interactive strategy game. Luck isn’t on the menu; smart planning is. 

Saturday, March 14. Experience VR at VCPL Main. Ages 12 & Up: Create intricate clockwork mechanisms, save a fantasy world, become a spy, or travel to distant planets with either the HTC Vive™ or the Meta Quest 2 VR headset.

Sunday, March 15. Westminster Symphony Sundays: Soprano, Clarinet, and Piano. The THSO is thrilled to present Symphony Sundays, a free chamber music concert series, at Westminster Village in the Community Center. Performances are 45-60 minutes in length and are open to the public. Join us each month for an afternoon of wonderful music performed by our THSO musicians!

Monday, March 16. Registration opens for Girls on the Run 5k!Each season comes to an end with a celebratory 5K. This closing event gives program participants of all abilities a tangible sense of accomplishment. Crossing the finish line instills confidence through completion and is a joyful moment program participants always remember! Everyone in our program receives a commemorative medal to celebrate this incredible achievement.

Monday, March 16. Tiny Tot Storytime at VCPL Main. Ages 0–2: Share food-themed stories, songs, and sensory play at Tiny Tot Time. Babies and toddlers explore textures and sounds through fingerplays, shakers, scarves, and food-inspired sensory bins, all while building early skills and spending time together.

Monday, March 16. Teen cookbook club at VCPL West. Ages 13 & Up: Hungry for something new? At Teen Cookbook Club, you can chop, sauté, and eat your way through a different recipe every month. Pick up practical kitchen skills, cook alongside others, and enjoy a taste of your hard work at the end.

Monday, March 16. Pokemon Trade and Game Night at VCPL Main. Ages 6–18: Do you gotta catch ‘em all? At Pokémon Trade & Game Night, you can trade your duplicate cards to complete your collection or look for your dream shiny! Bring along your deck to test your mettle against other Pokémon trainers.

Tuesday, March 17. Coloring for Adults at VCPL 12 Pts. Coloring isn’t just for kids—it’s a great way for you to relax, destress, and express your creativity without pressure. Tuesday, March 17. Just in Thyme: A History of Spices at VCPL Main. Explore the stories and uses behind everyday spices and how they shape the way we cook. Get practical ideas for using them at home, take small samples with you, and leave with recipes that make those flavors easy to try in your own kitchen.

Tuesday, March 17. Minecraft Club at VCPL Main. Ages 9 & Up: Head into the mines for resources, create a redstone-powered trap, craft tools, and fight off Creepers at the Minecraft Club! Join other players in Haute Create for co-op play, or enjoy your own game while you chat with people who share your interest. Bring your own device to play or use one provided in Haute Create.

Wednesday, March 18. Savor the Story: Writing Through Food and Memory. Uncover the power of food, memory, and words with professional writer Leah Singer. Inspired by Bite by Bite: Nourishments and Jamborees, you’ll write from prompts that draw on food, family, and connection, using taste and scent to unlock the memories and experiences that shape who we are.

Wednesday, March 18. Hydroponics: Gardening of the Future at VCPL Main. Ages 12 & Up: Start growing before spring arrives with an introduction to hydroponic gardening. Learn how simple, 3D-printed containers can support indoor herbs and greens, giving gardeners a head start on the season.

Wednesday, March 18. Intro to Ham Radio at VCPL Main. Connect to an audience across town or around the world without the internet! Whether you want to learn to build your own electronics, help with emergency responses, or escape your screen for a genuine conversation, ham radio offers you a DIY option that is part science, part scavenger hunt, and part community. Mike Morrison of the Wabash Valley Amateur Radio Association will introduce you to what ham radio entails, how to get started, and why this hobby remains popular.

Wednesday, March 18. Homeschool Art Class. FREE class offered by ISU CSA. Students, ages 5-12, will learn about Pop Art and the art of Andy Warhol. They will create a Pop Art inspired painting using oil pastel and watercolor based on their favorite pop culture inspiration. Students will create part of their artwork on day one and complete it to take home on day two.

Wednesday, March 18. Lego Lab at VCPL Main. Ages 6–11: Kids can challenge their construction skills, teamwork abilities, and creativity at Lego® Lab! Participants may tackle the monthly challenge or build their own design, then wrap up the session by touring everyone’s creations and seeing how different problems were solved. Parents and caregivers with children under nine should assist with building.

Thursday, March 19. Pete the Cat’s Pizza Parlor at VCPL Main. Ages 7–12: Pete the Cat is building the perfect pizza to share with his friends! But what’s a party with only one pizza? Make your own pie and top it with your favorite paper ingredients. 

Thursday, March 19. Baking Sourdough Bread class at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. The workshop includes instruction materials and a sourdough starter. Starters will be provided to participants at the beginning of class. This is a demonstration class in which participants will observe the full creation and baking process. It is limited to 15 people.

Thursday, March 19. Teen Crochet and Knitting Club at VCPL Main. Ages 11–18: Unravel your creative block or get hooked on a new hobby at the Teen Crochet & Knitting Club! Drop in to the Teen Space to spend some time with other yarn enthusiasts, work on your current project, and share tips and advice about your favorite craft, whether you’re crocheting, knitting, latch hooking, or working on another yarn-based craft! Don’t have a crochet hook or knitting needles? Some supplies will be available for use during the program.

Thursday, March 19. Potstickers and Dumplings at VCPL 12 Points. Make dumplings and potstickers from scratch, from mixing dough to shaping and cooking your own. Try several folding techniques, choose between vegetarian and meat fillings, then cook, taste, and share what you’ve made.

Thursday, March 19. Tinkercad Basics at VCPL Library Main. Ages 9 & Up: Do you want to create your own personalized keychains, custom game tokens, or decor for your room? Learn how to turn your ideas into actual 3D printed projects with Tinkercad, a user-friendly computer-assisted design tool! At Tinkercad Basics, you’ll get hands-on experience with the essentials of creating and exporting your own models to submit to bit.ly/vcpl_printing or print at home.

Thursday, March 19. Homeschool Music for 3rd-5th. FREE from ISU CSA! Welcome to the ISU Homeschool Elementary General Music Class for 3rd-5th Grades! This year, we will be experiencing different elements of music-making for students between the ages of (roughly) 8-11 years old. These classes are taught by ISU Music Education Majors who are finishing up their junior year of coursework with supervision from Dr. Abby Means, the Director of the Music Education Program. There is also a course for grades K-2! Andanother (called “Surreal Ecosystems”) for ages 11-18! 

Friday, March 20. Me and My Favorite Person Cooking Show at VCPL 12 Points. Ages 3–8: Take turns in an over-the-top cooking show where each step gets a little sillier and a lot messier. Will you help create a successful dish, or dine on a disaster? 

Friday, March 20. Brain Freeze Files Book Club in West Terre Haute with the VCPL. Whether you’re into cold cases, haunted houses, or epic quests, bring a book you loved—or you hated—to The Brain Freeze Files Book Club! Share your thoughts with fellow fans of true crime, the paranormal, and fantasy as you swap recommendations, vent about plot twists, and uncover new reads to chase or avoid. From serial killers to spellcasters, no genre is off-limits. If something catches your attention, place a hold on it immediately and add it to your growing to-read list. Coffee will be provided. No purchase necessary.

Friday, March 20. Arts Illiana Tablescapes. This is a large annual fundraiser to help forward this mission: to promote, support, and enhance the arts and cultural activities of the Wabash Valley. Local artists and organizations design and build a tablescape for public viewing.

Saturday, March 21. Sonia Math Day at Rose-Hulman. Each year, Rose-Hulman professors and mathematics and biomathematics majors invite high school students to campus to participate in engaging and interactive sessions that focus on applications of mathematics. This event is open to all students who are currently in a high school-level mathematics class. Established as part of a national initiative inspired by mathematician Sonia Kovalevsky, these events were originally created to encourage greater participation by women in mathematics and continue today as an inclusive celebration of mathematical curiosity and problem-solving. This free event is sponsored by the Department of Mathematics and the Rose-Hulman Student Chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM).

Saturday, March 21. Curious Kids: Sphero Obstacle Course at VCPL Main. Ages 7-12: Ready, set, roll! At this session of Curious Kids, you’ll use a Sphero® robot to navigate an obstacle course, testing speed, control, and problem-solving along the way. Experiment with coding basics, timing, and precision as you adjust your approach and see what helps your robot move smarter and faster.

Saturday, March 21. My First Prince: Father-Daughter Dance at White Pine Manor in Brazil. A magical father-daughter dance with a professional DJ, finger foods and desserts, matching temporary tattoos and a flower bar to create a floral masterpiece! A professional photographer will be present to take photos of your princess and her prince! It will be a wonderful forever memory!

Saturday, March 21. Swamp Stomp hosted by Morris Trucking. The Swamp Stomp is a 5-mile run and a 4-mile walk. There is also a 1-mile fun run option. Five and 4-mile options begin at 10 a.m. and the 1-mile begins at 9:45 a.m. The race itself is run on the trails of Hawthorn Park. The trails are generally in good shape however the weather can always make it a bit swampy so look out for alligators. The course is always well marked with plenty of course volunteers. And enjoy a post-race snacks!

Saturday, March 21. Funky Jewelry for ages 12+ with ISU CSA. Create wearable art that looks like it fell out of a dream. In this playful class, you’ll transform everyday scraps, old treasures, and forgotten trinkets into bold, surreal jewelry pieces. Expect unexpected materials, funky shapes, and lots of creative freedom as you sculpt and assemble your own one-of-a-kind statement accessories! Appropriate for adults and kids ages 12+, minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Monday, March 23. Food Game Night at VCPL West. Ages 6 & Up: Have a delicious family game night at the West Branch Library! Serve up your best dishes to earn popularity points, restore the Community Center, or grab the tastiest sushi combinations as they whizz by.

Tuesday, March 24. Mr. Lemoncello’s Book Club at VCPL Main. Ages 8–12: When Kyle Keeley is selected to spend the night at a new, high-tech library, he thinks he’s about to experience the ultimate adventure created by his favorite game designer. Once the doors lock, however, he finds himself trapped in a complex escape room, where every exhibit is a clue, every distraction costs time, and his instincts mislead him. Tuesday, March 24. Tabletopia: Gaming with Terre Haute Tabletop. Every month at Tabletopia, Terre Haute Tabletop will introduce new players to contemporary board games and provide skilled players with a regular gaming session, new challenges, and a connection to Terre Haute’s board game community. 

Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25. Flag Football Camp with Vigo County YMCA and St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Join us for our Flag Football Camp hosted by Saint Mary-of the-Woods at the YMCA! This camp is perfect for youth athletes of all skill levels to learn football fundamentals, improve agility, have fun, and build confidence on the field. Coaches and players from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods will lead skill-building drills, group games, and team play in a supportive, energetic environment.

Wednesday, March 25. Gamers’ Alliance at VCPL West. Ages 6 & Up: Knock your opponents out of the race with a blue shell or take down another fighter with your Smash Ball move at West Branch Library’s Gamers’ Alliance! Spend an afternoon playing classic Nintendo Wii U and Xbox games or pick up a Nintendo Switch for handheld racing and more. Competitive and cooperative games for the whole family will be available.

March 25, 26, and 27. The Great Pages Circus is coming to Terre Haute! With jaw-dropping aerial acts, hilarious clowns, and incredible juggling feats, there’s something for everyone. Don’t forget the four-legged stars: liberty ponies, majestic horses, and camels! And if you’re craving edge-of-your-seat excitement, the famous Pages Globe of Death might just rev up the adrenaline with some high-speed motorcycle madness. 2 kids ages 12 and under are free with every paid adult.

Thursday, March 26. Meet & Greet with Blythe Potter. Join us for an informal meet‑and‑greet with Blythe Potter, running for election for Indiana Secretary of State. Community members are invited to stop by, ask questions, and discuss topics related to the office. This casual event is designed to encourage open conversation and help residents learn more about the responsibilities of the Secretary of State’s role. All are welcome to attend.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a teacher, a farmer, or even a deep-sea biologist? This week, we’re meeting real-life guest speakers who will share what they do and how they got there! Each day brings a brand-new adventure — from Educators Day, where we’ll discover how teachers help shape the future, to Trades Day, where we’ll learn about hands-on jobs that build our community, and Explorers Day, where we’ll travel (at least in our imaginations!) to exciting places and careers. Get ready to ask questions, try new activities, and maybe even discover what YOU want to be one day!

Tuesday, March 31. Animals Around the World at VCPL Main. Ages 6–15: Travel to deep, dark jungles, arid deserts, and the frigid Arctic in search of reptilian, avian, and furry friends at Animals Around the World! Each session explores a featured animal through stories, crafts, and sometimes a live visit, with a closer look at the foods animals eat and how their diets help them survive.

Recurring Events: 

  • Mondays. Crafternoons at WEST VCPL. Grab your yarn and crochet hooks, your fabric and sewing supplies, or even your junk journal and washi tape for a relaxing afternoon at Crafternoons. Meet with a group of crafters every week to share ideas, show off projects, or just dedicate time to your WIPs—no matter what you’re creating! 
  • Tuesdays. Art Start at VCPL Main. Ages 2–6: Read, make, and experiment at Art Start with the Swope Art Museum. Each session pairs a picture book with a hands-on art project, inviting kids to explore materials, try new ideas, and turn stories into something of their own.
  • Tuesdays. Starting March 17. Art Lab for ages 6-12 with ISU CSA. This art class is designed as a creative makers space where kids and their grownups can explore, experiment, and play with a wide variety of art supplies. Each week, students are free to dive into their own ideas and create anything that inspires them—there’s no set final project or rigid structure. The focus is on imagination, discovery, and enjoying the process of making art together. It’s a chance for families to connect while encouraging creativity and self-expression in a fun, relaxed environment.
  • Tuesdays. Baby Lap Sit Storytime at WEST VCPL. Ages 0–1: Share songs, stories, and gentle bounces together at Baby Lap Sit Storytime. This calm, interactive session supports early language and sensory awareness while giving babies a chance to listen, watch, and respond from a caregiver’s lap
  • Wednesdays. Wiggle Worm Storytime at VCPL Main. Ages 2–5: Wiggle, sing, and play your way through food-themed stories at Wiggle Worm Storytime. Each week explores a different food group through read-alouds, songs, movement, and hands-on activities like pasta collages and paper-plate pizzas. Storytime wraps up with free play, giving little ones space to explore while adults connect.
  • Thursdays. Teen Board Game Night at VCPL West. 
  • Fridays. Music Makers Storytime at VCPL West.

Sunday, March 1. Anthropology at ISU Department of Theater. Merril has been spending more time with her sister Angie lately, but she’s not ready for anyone to know about it. At least, not until she’s ready to explain that Angie is an AI creation she developed to cope with her sister’s disappearance and death. When virtual Angie offers the possibility that real Angie might be still alive, Merril does everything she can to work with her creation to find her sister. But as the search continues, it becomes less and less clear whether an AI creation that Merril programmed to help her might have developed motives of its own.

Monday, March 2. Lego Lab at Vigo County Public Library MAIN. Ages 6–11: Kids can challenge their construction skills, teamwork abilities, and creativity at Lego® Lab! Participants may tackle the monthly challenge or build their own design, then wrap up the session by touring everyone’s creations and seeing how different problems were solved. Parents and caregivers with children under nine should assist with building.

At Pothos Starter Swap, you will learn how to propagate a new plant from cuttings and how to start your new plant in water. If you’re already a pothos lover, bring your favorite plant to share and trade for new starts from others.

Wednesday. March 4. Join Emily at ISU CSA for a four week punch needle workshop! Punch needle is is a form of embroidery related to rug hooking. Instead of stitching through fabric like traditional embroidery, with punch needle, you push thread or yarn into fabric using a special tool, while keeping the needle on the surface! The result is a highly textured design made of loops that show off the craft’s connection to rug making. Over this four week workshop we will explore both abstract and realistic designs using a variety of yarns. Completely customizable projects and a fun atmosphere, what more could you want?!

In this hand sewing workshop, you’ll design and build your very own Mischief Monster. These small stuffed creatures are made with crooked smiles, mismatched button eyes, lopsided limbs, funky teeth, wild personalities, and whatever other chaotic charm you decide to stitch onto your character! This class includes hand sewing with a needle and thread, but is open to all ages and skill levels!

These Shining Lives chronicles the strength and determination of women considered expendable in their day, exploring their true story and its continued resonance. Catherine and her friends are dying, it’s true; but theirs is a story of survival in its most transcendent sense, as they refuse to allow the company that stole their health to kill their spirits—or endanger the lives of those who come after them.

Tuesday, March 10. Red Carpet Night at VCPL West. Ages 0–12: Step into the spotlight at Red Carpet Night.
