What’s open in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley?

As our state starts to reopen, we’re seeing local businesses that serve families and kids announce their plans for reopening.

To help, we’ve put together a list with plans and timelines.

What’s open in Terre Haute?

As always, details are subject to change. (Flexibility is essential in this covid-season!) Please check business pages for updates before making your plans. Click links for more details and updates. As you see other announcements, please post to the Haute Happenings facebook page or in the 365 Things to Do in Terre Haute group. 

Beginning May 15:

• Haute City Center (mall) will reopen

Several kid-friendly locations plan to reopen on May 24th.  Including: 

• All city park playgrounds, restrooms and indoor facility rentals 
• The Bouncin Barn will reopen with $5 admission 7 days a week. 
• The Moon Lite Drive-In Theater in Terre Haute
• Campgrounds at Vigo County Parks
• Brickway Tennis and Pickleball Club will be opening on Friday, May 1, from noon to 7 pm and the season will be extended until June 26.
• Classes at Terre Haute Cheer University
• Classes at Wabash Valley Tumbling and Gymnastics
• YMCAs in Vigo County and Clay County
• Other gyms (like Ivy Fit) and skate rinks (like the Wigwam) *hope* to open May 24, but no official announcements have been made. 
• Sugar Valley Canoes will host trips with 100 or less from May 24-June 14. Reservations recommended. 

Beginning June 1st: 

• Recreational classes resume at Illiana Gymnastics Complex. 

Beginning June 8th: 

• Deming Park pool will open (weather permitting).

Beginning June 14th the following places plan to reopen and resume:

•  All city park programs, softball leagues and the Deming Park train will begin operating.
• The Parks Department Nature Center, Torner Center and Native American Museum will reopen.
• Griffin Bike Park events (with the exception of the social distancing scavenger hunt that is ongoing) 
• Swope Art Museum

Events that have gone virtual:

• Lace it Up! Kids Running Program for 2020
• Connecting with Code: Rose-Hulman Summer Programming Camp

The Vigo County Public Library remains closed but has opened up specific services such as curbside and delivery for library patrons. 

We expect to hear more news of museums, play areas, shopping areas, and more opening soon!
