There’s too much fun this weekend in Terre Haute! What will you choose?
|It’s been a long time since we’ve had a weekend to brag about here in Terre Haute. But this weekend makes up for a few slow weeks. There’s so much going that there’s NO WAY you can do it all. So what will it be? Here are your options:
One of the most out-of-the-ordinary events happening this weekend is the fly-in/drive-in at Hulman Airport. It’s a fundraiser for the ISU flight academy to raise money for flight competitions. If you have kids who like airplanes (like we do), take them to this event to meet ISU flight instructors, go for a$20 airplane ride (this is a steal!), fly paper airplanes, and buy some barbecue for lunch.
The Music Man at Terre Haute North is a kid-friendly show that will take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Tickets are $8. Showtime is at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 3:00 pm on Saturday.
The Earth Day Celebration at St. Mary of the Woods will be fun for the whole family! Admission is free, but donations are accepted to offset the cost of the event. Highlights for kids should be the Silly Safaris live animal show at 1 pm and the alpaca shearing at 1:30. To see the complete schedule, click here.
Come one, come all, to the Fairy Tale Ball! Princes and Princesses of all ages, along with their Kings and Queens, are invited to the Terre Haute Children’s Museum on Saturday, April 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to enjoy an evening of magical experiments, enchanted crafts, activities and villainous snacks. Don your favorite fairy tale character costume and explore the various fantasy lands that will be scattered throughout the Children’s Museum. Don’t miss the special SciOnTheFly shows at 6:15, 7:15, and 8:15. $5 for museum members and $10 for non-members.
Raise your hand if you have boxes, piles, and totes full of outgrown kids’ clothes and toys! Bring your items to the World Gospel Toy and Clothing Exchange. EVERYTHING is FREE. Bring what you can; take what you need. Click here for more info.
Stressenfest 2014 will be going strong from Thursday-Saturday. Free admission! More details here.
There’s storytime at Barnes and Noble on Saturday at 11 a.m. FREE, as always!
March of Dimes March for Babies is at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Are you walking?
Have you heard of the Kid Fit Activity Fair? The 2nd Annual Kidfit Event will be held at the Booker T. Washington Gym and is free to the public. Sponsored by the Wabash Valley Indiana Assoc. for the Education of Young Children, this event will feature active games, kids’ zumba, tricycle obstacle courses, Mother Goose on the Loose and nutritious snacks in the KidFit Cafe. 1p.m.-3. p.m.
Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA (free!) and Camps and Activities Fair will start at 10:00 a.m, but you may want to get to Fairbanks park even earlier for Steve Weatherford’s third annual “Rush the Punter” fun run to benefit United Way.
And just in case all of these fun things aren’t enough to keep you in town, Sesame Street Live will be in Indy on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Click here for details.
