Thursday, September 4. Crosley Radio Players at Wabash Activity Center. Relive the golden age of live radio programs as the Crosley Radio Players recreate episodes of The Shadow, Command Performance, and the hilarious Fibber McGee & Molly. You will laugh, you may be frightened and you will be entertained! Doors open at 6:30 with light snacks available. Ticket are available in advance and at the door. $10 for adults, $6 for children.
Thursday, September 4. Community Open House hosted by CODA. Join us as we celebrate the completion of our newly renovated space at 21 S. 17th Street, directly across the street from the Emergency Shelter! We have big plans for this location, so please join us and check out what we have in store for the future of CODA.
Thursday, September 4. Cozy Stories and Sensory Play at 12 Points branch of VCPL. Ages 3–5: Build your little one’s language and fine motor skills through active listening and hands-on exploration at Cozy Stories & Sensory Play! Each session includes a personal sensory bin filled with items inspired by the story. As they listen, they can squish, scoop, sort, and explore materials like scented play-dough and colorful feathers. Each session offers a new story, new textures, and new ways to learn through play.

Friday, September 5. Peckish Party with Author Gabby Comelleri. Louie has a simple dream: he wants to eat a croissant. He even lives in Paris, home of the croissant! But he’s a pigeon, so getting one is more complicated than it seems. Will he fulfil his heart’s desire? Create crafts, enjoy snacks, and join local author Gabby Comelleri as she reads her debut children’s book, Peckish, at this special storytime. The first ten registrants will receive a copy of the book.

Saturday, September 6. Cozy Crafts: Pet Portraits. Ages 11-18: Create a keepsake of your furry bff with Cozy Crafts. Bring a printed photo of your pet, and use paint markers to trace your pet’s image onto glass. Add color, highlights, and more with acrylic paint to complete your pet’s portrait at the MAIN branch of the VCPL.

Saturday, September 6. Alpaca Yoga at SMWC. First held in the spring of 2025, this popular event will take place from 11:00 a.m.-noon, on Saturday, September 6, at White Violet Center for Eco-Justice in the female alpaca pasture. Participants must be 18-years-old or older. All who participate are asked to arrive at 10:45 a.m., at the White Violet Farm Store for check-in. From there, you’ll walk to our destination for yoga. Cost is $15 per person for those who attend.

Saturday, September 6. Lock 47 Ribbon Cutting. We are excited to share that Lock 47, a remnant of the Wabash & Erie Canal, will be having its grand opening on Saturday, September 6 at 10 am! In the mid-1800s, this lock was part of a vast canal system that helped transport goods and people across Indiana- an engineering marvel of its time. Lock 47 once controlled water levels to allow boats to pass through, connecting communities and fueling commerce in the region.

Classical Arts Entertainment’s production of the Nutcracker is an incredible opportunity for local dancers to experience a professional production that will be seen by appreciative audiences this holiday season. Being selected as a cast member is an honor and a privilege. Those selected will work with professional dancers, choreographers and directors, wear exquisite costumes and appear on a lavish set at Hatfield Hall (5500 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute) on November 6th in two performances, 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM.

September 8 and 9. Auditions for Assisted Living at Community Theatre of Terre Haute. Anne Kelly needs help. She’s pushing forty and still lives with her mother. Her deadbeat brother won’t return her calls, and the ancient family home seems to be falling down around her. When a younger man with a troubled past comes into her life, Anne begins to see the upside of not always being the grown-up. Assisted Living is a funny and surprising look at the struggle to discover where our families end, and we begin. (Rated R).
Tuesday, September 9. Animals Around the World at VCPL Main. Ages 6–15: Travel to deep, dark jungles, arid deserts, and even the frigid Arctic in search of reptilian, avian, and furry friends at Animals Around the World! In every session, your child will learn about a unique animal through stories and crafts—and may even get to meet the featured animal.
Tuesday, September 9. L’heure du Conte: Bilingual Storytime. Ages 3–5: Parlez-vous français? You and your little one will enjoy exploring a new language at L’heure du Conte! Learn about French culture and language through songs, nursery rhymes, books, games, activities, and stories.
Wednesday, September 10. Riverscape’s Annual Moonlight on the Wabash. On September 10th we’ll gather at picturesque Fairbanks Park, nestled along the serene Wabash. As twilight descends, we’ll celebrate its beauty and vitality, all while raising crucial funds to support the vital work of transforming this local treasure. We will enjoy live music, delicious refreshments, and great company. We’ll also take this opportunity to honor an individual or organization whose outstanding contributions have significantly impacted the Wabash River and its surroundings.
Thursday, September 11. Bambu Basics. Ages 12 & Up: Are you curious about 3D printing? Find out how to get started at Bambu® Basics. From key terms, software tools, and the slicing process, you’ll follow along with step-by-step instructions that cover the basics of using Bambu® Studio, including how to find, edit, and prepare a simple design for print. Bring your own laptop or use one of the laptops available in Haute Studio at VCPL Main. Materials will be provided.

Friday, September 12. Kathleen Magidan at Hatfield Hall. Comedian Kathleen Madigan’s 33-year comedy career is showing no signs of slowing down as she is on her current tour, The Day Drinking Tour. As a premiere stand-up comedian, Madigan sells out marquee theaters across the country, and is one of the few female comedians to tour over 250 days a year. Madigan has squeezed in over 40 appearances on daytime and late-night talk shows, and has had comedy specials premiere on Netflix, Comedy Central, MAX and Amazon Prime Video. She has also appeared on Jerry Seinfeld’s popular Netflix series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and hosts her popular weekly podcast, Madigan’s Pubcast, which currently has over 10.7 million downloads on all streaming outlets.

Saturday, September 13. Discovering Ace Stewart: The Story of a Hometown Ballplayer at VCPL Main. Over a century ago, Terre Haute native Asa “Ace” Stewart made his mark on America’s favorite pastime, playing 20 seasons of professional baseball from 1889 to 1908. After a year in the majors with the Chicago Colts in 1895, Stewart returned to Indiana, suiting up for teams in Indianapolis, Anderson, Peru, and his hometown. Decades later, his story might have been lost to history until a traumatic head injury in 14-year-old Patrick Stewart’s own baseball game led to a remarkable discovery. During recovery, Patrick unearthed a long-buried family connection to Ace Stewart, his great-granduncle, and began piecing together the life of a player known for his grit and determination.

Friday, September 12 and Saturday, September 13. Terre Haute Balloon Festival. The weekend events include an evening “glow” of balloons on Friday and Saturday night. Come out to enjoy live music, food trucks, view the balloons and baskets, and watch the balloon ascension at dusk! Balloon flights and displays are weather dependent, taking place only at dusk when conditions permit. Tethered Balloon Rides are $20 per person and will begin after 6:00 pm but are dependent on the weather. Evening Balloon Glow will begin after sunset and is dependent on the weather. Tethered Balloon rides must be purchased at the event, cash only.

The Pride Center of Terre Haute is proud to host our fourth annual Terre Haute Pride Fest on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Fairbanks Park (1100 Girl Scout Ln, Terre Haute, IN 47807). Monday, September 15. International Dot Day at VCPL West. Ages 2–12: Creativity starts with a single dot! Your child can turn plain circles into colorful dots, then use QuiverVision, an augmented reality app, to see them come to life in 3D, or add to a group-decorated dot that will be displayed at the West Branch Library. Arrive at 1:30 to join a special storytime, featuring Peter H. Reynolds’ The Dot and other stories meant to encourage your child’s artistic side.

Wednesday, September 17. Fall Into Art at the 12 Points branch of the VCPL. Ages 5–10: Your young artist can explore the warm colors of autumn at Fall Into Art. Using cotton-tipped swabs and paint, your child will create their own autumnal tree, practice small movements, and express their individuality.

Thursday, September 18. Egg-cellent Engineering: Egg Drop Challenge at VCPL 12 Points. Ages 8–15: Give your budding engineer a challenge that will push the limits of their imagination. At Egg-cellent Engineering, your child will work with their teammates to build a protective device around a raw egg using limited materials and see if it will survive the final drop!

September 19, 29, 26, and 27. Flashlight Night Corn Maze at L&A Family Farm. Experience our challenging corn maze in the dark for an added thrill, making it a crowd favorite. Complete checkpoint tasks and report back to staff for a chance to spin the wheel and win a prize! There will be no one from the farm’s staff scaring people in the maze, but we cannot guarantee other guests’ behavior.

Saturday, September 20. Pumpkin Harvest Market with Jolly Pines Tree Farm. Our 6th annual Pumpkin Harvest Market is so fun!! Think of any kind of pumpkin and we will likely have it ready for you to purchase and decorate with! This is the one day of the year that we set out alllll the different specialty and Jack-o-lantern pumpkins we grow here at the farm along with Amish grown Mums, our famous homemade Ice cream, food trucks, and many local vendors with handmade items!! It’s a celebration to the start of Fall! We will be introducing a new U-Pick Flower field/Maze this year that you won’t want to miss!

Saturday, September 20. 9th Annual Route 40 Fest in Brazil, IN. For one day, members of the public can plant their feet on historic US Route 40 in Brazil, Indiana! This downtown festival always provides families tons of enjoyment, with live entertainment, food trucks, craft vendors, kids activities, and more.
Saturday, September 20. Marshall Autumn Fest Parade as part of the Marshall Autumn Fest happening on September 19, 20, and 21. Event theme: The Roaring 20s. Featuring vendors, boy band review, flip fanatics daredevil performance, ultimate tribute to Garth Brooks, Tot Rod Peddle Pull, car show.
Saturday, September 20. Fowler Park Blacksmithing Classes. Participants will learn how to operate a blacksmith forge, understand the parts of an anvil, and the uses of various hand tools in the blacksmith shop. They’ll also get to shape metal using learned techniques including forging a curve, a twist, a square, and more!
Saturday, September 20. National Gymnastics Day Celebration. Pop Up Social is thrilled to be organizing a high energy, family friendly event for Wabash Valley Tumbling and Gymnastics in celebration of National Gymnastics Day! Free and open to the public.
Sunday, September 21. Westminster Symphony Sundays: String Quartet. The THSO is thrilled to present Symphony Sundays, a free chamber music concert series, at Westminster Village in the Community Center. Performances are 45-60 minutes in length and are open to the public. Join us each month for an afternoon of wonderful music performed by our THSO musicians!
