Wednesday, July 23. Paint Your Own Van Gogh at VCPL 12 Points. Explore the bold lines and expressive color of Van Gogh’s art by coloring a canvas inspired by his iconic works. Choose your favorite design and bring it to life using provided materials. No painting experience is needed to appreciate his unique style and make it your own.

Thursday, July 24. Libratory at WEST VCPL. Ages 6–11: Do you have a budding artist or a mad scientist whose creativity is waiting to be unleashed? Stop by the Libratory and get ready to experiment! Libratory takes ideas from some of your children’s favorite stories and turns them into concepts that they can experience hands-on. Your child might program a robot, help create and implement a plan to harvest rainwater for West Branch Library’s garden, or create an artistic masterpiece!

Thursday, July 24. Paint Who You Are: A Collaborative Art Project for Teens at 12 Points VCPL. Ages 12-17: Make your mark on the 12 Points Library! Paint a representation of yourself on a 4” x 4” canvas using acrylic paint and inspiration images, then add your work to a larger mosaic in the Teen Space. Supplies and refreshments will be provided.

Friday, July 25. 3D Print Night at WEST VCPL. All Ages: Learn how to take your ideas from concept to creation at 3D Print Night! At this interactive demonstration of the West Branch Library’s 3D printer, you’ll journey through every phase of designing a print—from the inception of an idea to a polished product.

Friday, July 25. Curious Kids: Centripetal Art at VCPL Main. Ages 6-12: Make art using centripetal force at this session of Curious Kids! Use a salad spinner to spin paint onto paper and watch colors fly out in circles. Learn how centripetal force pulls things toward the center and why it feels like the paint is being pushed out. It’s science and art all in one spin!

Friday, July 25. United Way-Serve the Valley. Volunteers across the Wabash Valley will roll up their sleeves for a morning of community projects!  Registered volunteers are invited to a free breakfast. Sign up by July 7 to get a free t-shirt!

Friday, July 25. Family Fun Days at Fowler Park. Join the VCPRD for a day of family fun! Bring your family out to Fowler Park’s Shelter A field to participate in your own mini family games against each other or friends. There will be kayaking, yard games, soccer, volleyball, cornhole, popsicles and more! All activities are free for you and your family to enjoy.

Friday, July 25. Twilight River Run at Fairbanks Park. Participants can choose a 1-mile run/walk or a 5k run/walk. This is a NIGHT race. The 1-mile starts at 9:30 p.m. and the 5k starts at 10 p.m. Deadline to register and receive a t-shirt is July 19. Packet pick-up will take place Friday, July 25, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Riddell National Bank, 4210 S US Hwy 41 (south location), and again at Fairbanks park at 8pm.

Ages 13 & Up: Discover how screen printing works, explore ways to personalize everyday items, and leave with a custom piece you made yourself at Customize It! Design a custom stencil using a Cricut cutting machine then use that stencil to screen print onto a zipper pouch or small bag. All materials will be provided.

Tuesday, July 29. Puzzle Pals at VCPL 12 Points. Ages 12-17: Use your creativity to create fun puzzles for younger Library users at Puzzle Pals.  You’ll be able to select from kid-friendly themes, including animals, nature, and superheroes. Supplies will be provided.

Tuesday, July 29. FREE movie night in ROCKVILLE, IN. The Ouabache Land Conservancy (OLC) invites everyone to be mesmerized by “Winged Migration” at free movie night at the Rockville Ritz Theater on Tuesday, July 29th at 7:00 pm. This Oscar-nominated masterpiece used innovative techniques to follow every type of movement birds make, whatever their size, altitude, weather conditions and speed of travel was through 40 countries and each of the seven continents. Join us as we celebrate the wonderful world of birds and nature at its finest.

Tuesday, July 29. The Fantastic Art Book Club: Warning! Journey to Forever at VCPL Main. Ages 7–12: In their final mission, Tiger Brooks and Luna Lopez enter Diego Rivera’s bustling painting The Flower Vendor (Girl with Lilies), and this time, they’re not alone. Viola Dots joins them, determined to find her son David after fifty years apart. The colorful marketplace is full of motion and beauty, but danger still lurks in hidden corners. As they follow David’s trail, they uncover the truth about why he stayed lost so long and what it will take to bring him home. With the Hour of Power ticking down, they must work together to escape before the Fantastic Frame closes for good.

Wednesday, July 30. Colors of Creativity: Sublimation Workshop at VCPL Main. Ages 13 & Up: At Colors of Creativity, you will design a simple graphic, print it on Haute Create’s sublimation printer, and transfer it onto a sublimation blank using a heat press. Bring your own fabric item to print on and discover how easy and affordable it is to make personalized items. Items made from 100% polyester work best, but you can also use fabrics with a 60% or greater polyester blend.

Wednesday, July 30. Despicable Me 2 at the Moonlite Drive-in. Hosted by Terre Haute North Dance Team

Wednesday, July 30. Lego Stop Motion Animation for Teens. Ages 12–18: Build your own Lego® movie, from character casting to creating movement, with Lego® Stop Motion Animation for Teens! Team up to design your set, direct the action, and add voiceovers to your own short film using Lego® mini-figs and the Lego® Stop Motion Animation kit. The final products will be viewed on a projection screen. Attendees are welcome to bring their own Lego® supplies to personalize their creations.

Thursday, July 31.Old-Fashioned Barn Dance at the Wabash Activity Center. It’s an Old-Fashioned Barn Dance, an April Dean production! On July 31st, doors open at 6:00 with dinner at 6:15 and dancing begins at 7:00. Dinner includes fried chicken, cheesy potatoes, green beans, tomato/cottage cheese, applesauce, fruit, desserts, tea, water, lemonade. All this food and fun for $12!

Tuesday, July 1. Fantastic Art Book Club: Beware! Shadows in the Night at VCPL Main. Ages 7–12: Tiger Brooks and Luna Lopez continue to search for David in the nocturnal world of Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks. Their adventure lands them on a dark, empty street in 1940s New York City and an eerie diner full of confusing rules, mysterious people, and dark secrets. As the quiet tension of the painting starts to play tricks on their minds, they struggle to tell friend from foe. With time running out, they must trust each other—and their instincts—if they want to escape before the Hour of Power ends.

Wednesday, July 2. Outdoor Adventures at the Brazil Public Library. Get a free snow cone from Kona Ice, draw with chalk & play games on the Library’s patio.

Wednesday, July 2. Pretty Funny Balloons at the CLINTON Public Library. Hoosier balloon artist will give an interactive educational program, illustrating artistic concepts like color, proportions and realism. Each guest will get a chance to make a balloon creation!

Thursday, July 3.MagiKids at VCPL Main. Start your child on the journey to becoming a powerful wizard with Magic: The Gathering, a turn-based trading card game, and MagiKids! Developed to introduce young players to the concepts of Magic: The Gathering, MagiKids encourages participants to sort and build their own custom deck of spells, creatures, and artifacts before they challenge other players to a game that relies on skill just as much as luck and that encourages them to use critical thinking skills to overcome the pitfalls of random chance.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore why people play games, build a prototype using game pieces and household materials, and test your ideas with others. Bring your own supplies or use bits provided by The Game Crafter. A published game designer will be on hand to answer questions.

Monday, July 7. Lego Lab at VCPL Main. Challenge your child’s construction skills, teamwork abilities, and creativity at Lego® Lab! Your child can attempt the monthly challenge or build their own designs. At the end of the evening, spend a few minutes touring everyone’s designs and learn how others solved problems in their own builds. Parents and caregivers with children under nine should assist with building.

Monday, July 7. Watch CARS on the big screen at the Vigo County Fairgrounds. FREE!!

Tuesday, July 8. Animals Around the World at VCPL Main. Travel to deep, dark jungles, arid deserts, and even the frigid Arctic in search of reptilian, avian, and furry friends at Animals Around the World! In every session, your child will learn about a unique animal through stories and crafts—and may even get to meet the featured animal.

Wednesday, July 9. Preschool storytime at the 12 Points VCPL kitchen. Ages 3–5: Get your preschooler ready for the next big step in their education journey with Preschool Storytime. At Preschool Storytime, your child can practice their listening skills, develop their vocabulary, improve their motor skills with songs, dance, stories, and more.

Wednesday, July 9.Diamond Painting at VCPL Main. Try your hand at diamond painting, a relaxing craft where tiny, colorful gems are placed on a sticky canvas to create sparkling artwork. Choose from a variety of designs and follow an easy color guide to complete your piece. All materials will be provided.

Wednesday, July 9. Harold and the Purple Crayon at the Brazil Public Library. Watch “Harold & the Purple Crayon” and get a bag of free popcorn at the Library. This program is open to all ages.

Thursday, July 10. MellyPop Puppet Show and Puppet Making Workshop in SULLIVAN with the Sullivan Public Library.

Thursday, July 10. Best Friends Craft Night at the 12 Points VCPL Garage. Ages 13 & Up: Make colorful friendship bracelets and try out a variety of other fun, hands-on crafts. Come with your best friend or meet someone new while you create something special to wear or share. All materials will be provided. Refreshments will be available.

Thursday, July 10. Sweet Reads Book Club: The Hobbit at The Magpies’ Nest in conjunction with the VCPL. Bilbo Baggins enjoys a quiet, comfortable life until a group of unexpected visitors draws him into a daring quest. Traveling across mountains, forests, and rivers, he encounters trolls, goblins, giant spiders, and more. Along the way, he explores ancient ruins, mysterious paths, and hidden places that few have seen. The journey pushes him far beyond the borders of his peaceful home into a world filled with danger, wonder, and adventure at every turn in J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic fantasy novel The Hobbit. Enjoy a sweet treat, good company, and a great book every month at the Sweet Reads Book Club.

Thursday, July 10. Pokemon Creation at VCPL Main. Ages 6–15: Who’s that Pokémon? You decide at Pokémon Creation! Use a premade template to design a unique Pokémon, complete with stats, special moves, type, description, region, and even a custom evolution line.

July 11-13. Jellicle Cats come out during the performance of CATS at the Paris Community Theatre.

Friday, July 11 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Summer Tea Party at the West Library-Outdoor Shelter. Registration begins Friday, June 13 at vigolibrary.org/events. If this event has reached maximum capacity, non-registrants may be turned away on the day of the event.

Ages 6-11: Put on your favorite finery and prepare to sip from a cup with your pinky up! You and your child are invited to an afternoon of refreshments, stories, games, and crafts at the Summer Tea Party.

Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

Your child will be able to record their voice and watch the sound waves appear on a screen, then use what they see to create a one-of-a-kind artwork while they learn about sound, vibration, and why every voice is as unique as a fingerprint.

Saturday, July 12. Community Sale at the Moonlite Drive-In.

Saturday, July 12. Thunder in the Valley Kids. Athletes will receive a Thunder in The Valley swim cap and a custom die cast 40th anniversary finisher medal. The triathlon will begin at 9am with a swim in the calm Hawthorn Lake. The duathlon will begin shortly after, with a fast out-and-back run near the lake. After a quick lakeside transition, athletes will head out for a smooth, fast bike course that will bring them back to the transition area.   Athletes will then run on a shaded, flat out and back course before returning to the finish line. The race course is completely closed to traffic with the bike course taking place on the Heritage Trail, and the run being on various trails in Hawthorn Park.

Saturday, July 12. Art Hacks: Newspaper Mache Silhouettes. Create a layered mixed-media piece using paper mâché and paint. Start by covering a canvas with newspaper, then add bold silhouettes using black paint to complete your design.

Saturday, July 12. Tallgrass Prairie Hike. Everyone is invited to a tallgrass prairie hike at the Jackson-Schnyder Nature Preserve, west of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, on Saturday, July 12 from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Phil Cox, Purdue University Extension Educator, and Dr. Jim Nardi, University of Illinois Research Entomologist (retired), will lead hikers on the Julius Trail around the 4-acre tallgrass prairie identifying the native and invasive flora, pollinators, and other insects of the prairie along the way.

July 14, 15, 16, and 17. Rex Academy with the Rex Baseball team. Speed and agility drills, catching/fielding, throwing, homerun derby, bunting, base running, and more!

Monday, July 14. Art is Where You Find It: Mapping Your Walk with the WEST VCPL. Learn how to document your everyday experiences, create a travel log, or capture memories from special events with a foldable book created from photos and notes. Start with a guided walk through the neighborhood around the West Branch Library, where you will take pictures and note details that catch your attention. Return to the Library to turn your materials into a personalized keepsake.

Tuesday, July 15. L’heure du Conte: Bilingual Storytime. Ages 3–5: Parlez-vous français? You and your little one will enjoy exploring a new language at L’heure du Conte! Learn about French culture and language through songs, nursery rhymes, books, games, activities, and stories.

Tuesday, July 15. The Fantastic Art Book Club: Look Out! Ghost Mountain Below at VCPL Main. Ages 7–12: Tiger Brooks and Luna Lopez land in the desert of Georgia O’Keeffe’s Red Clouds with the Pedernal. Surrounded by sun-bleached bones, red rock cliffs, and endless sky, they search for David in a world that feels both peaceful and haunted. The deeper they explore, the more the desert plays tricks on their minds, stirring up fears and doubts. But when a sudden dust storm hits, they have to rely on each other to survive and find their way back to the frame before it closes.

Wednesday, July 16. Maker Hour: Play with Your Food at WEST VCPL. Make paint the old-fashioned way—using food! In this hands-on art session, you and your child will mix egg yolk with spices and other kitchen items to create your own egg tempera paint, just like artists did hundreds of years ago. Then use your homemade paint to create your own masterpiece.

Wednesday, July 16. Summer Reading Finale at the BRAZIL Public Library. Celebrate the end of the Summer Reading Program with free hot dogs, outdoor games, a chance to win door prizes and more!

Monday, July 21. Cozy Crafts: Coloring Night at VCPL Main. Ages 12-18: Unwind with a relaxing afternoon of coloring. Choose from a variety of coloring pages and use markers, colored pencils, or crayons to make them your own. There are no rules and no pressure, only time to slow down and be creative. Ages 6–15: Travel to deep, dark jungles, arid deserts, and even the frigid Arctic in search of reptilian, avian, and furry friends at Animals Around the World! In every session, your child will learn about a unique animal through stories and crafts—and may even get to meet the featured animal. Registration is required for this event.
