Summer Music Classes and PlayShopes at KinderCenter 

Baby
In Busy Days, we’ll be taking trips to the park, the pool, the Dr’s office, the grocery and a family reunion and never leave the classroom! Daytime & evening classes available. Choose 6, 7, 8, 9, or all 10 classes offered. For more information, visit www.KinderCenterMusik.com.

Preschool PlayShops
PlayShops are fun, creative, educational experiences to share with your child. There is a wide range of themes from a Pirates & Princesses Tea Party to Dinosaurs! Swope Summer Art Studio for ages 4-7

CRAY-CRAY FOR CLAY! June 10 – 14. 9 am – 11 am.
Students who are wanting to learn more about clay and making sculptures will love this class! Students will use a variety of clay-based materials such as Sculpey clay, Polymer modeling clay and self-hardening air-dry clay. In this class, they will make clay animals, a self-portrait relief, and clay food.

ART APPRENTICE- PAINT, DRAW, AND SCULPT! June 10 – 14. 12 pm – 2 pm.
This class is a wonderful opportunity for young children who are interested in learning more about art. Young students will learn about the various materials and mediums in used in creating art. Students will dabble in self-hardening clay creating one of a kind sculptures. They will create a self-portrait collage, paint with watercolors, and color with colored pencils. (ages 4 – 7)

VISUAL EXPLORATIONS FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. June 17 – 21. 9 am – 11 am.
This course will offer various media experiences. Students will have an opportunity to explore and experiment with visual experiences using paint, yarn, papier-mâché, air dry clay, and paper. Parent or guardian is welcome to attend classes with student. (ages 5 – 18)

MONSTER MADNESS. June 24 – 28. 9 am – 11 am.
Don’t let your little monsters miss out on this fun, mad class. Students will imagine and then create their own monsters from their own 2-D drawing, using texture, color, and line. They will then make a 3-D sculpture from clay, bringing over the same qualities, their monster personifies, to life. Students will also come up with a collage, where the monster resides in its own habitat.

PASSPORT TO ART. July 15 – 19. 9 am – 11 am
Students will learn about several different countries and the cultures that follow each one. Students will be involved in making a large diverse collage mural that several SAS students will be a part of. Students will create artwork with several different mediums including clay, acrylic paint and watercolors.

Summer Camp with Community School of the Arts

These camps are fun, week-long immersions into a various theme which will include art, music, theater, swimming and more! Most camps are full-day so that students can enjoy different activities throughout the day and from week to week. All materials are provided unless otherwise specified. You can register campers for one week or all eight! Designed for beginning to intermediate levels, students need no prior experience. Classes, lunch and breaks are fully supervised by CSA instructors and staff. Instructors are ISU faculty, ISU graduate arts students and ISU undergraduate arts education majors.  All fitness sessions are taught or supervised by instructors and lifeguards, and are designed for children at all fitness levels.

  • June 3-7. Art Sampler 1: Anything Goes! 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Ages: 5-15.
  • June 17-21. Art Sampler 3: Around the World in 5 Days. 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Ages: 5-15.

Art Camps and Classes at Charm School

Charm School will host various classes and camps throughout the summer that are ideal for ages 5 and up. Themes include superheroes, garden/nature, fairy tales, famous artists, and more! Their dollhouse workshop is open to ages 4 and up.

Lace It Up Running Program

Free! Open to ages 4-12

Terre Haute Children’s Museum

Movement, Gravity & Friction, Oh My!. July 1-3 or July 8-10. Pre-K. Does your preschooler ask ‘why’ about everything? Preschoolers come to play, learn and discover the big questions of how and why things move. Why does a water balloon come down and splash? Why do wheels roll and stop? Drop your potty-trained 3-5 year old off for a world of discovery.
