Things to Do in November in the Terre Haute Area

As soon as November hits, the world goes crazy for Christmas.  If you’re planning a winter holiday or Christmas event or activity, send your info! We can’t promote what we don’t know. Basic submission is free!  Add your information via our holiday event submission form. 

In our November calendar, you may see a few holiday events sprinkled in, but most will be found in our 2025 Holiday Guide! (Coming soon!)

Homeschool Days at Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Homeschool students are invited to a “field trip” at the Museum! Grab your fellow homeschool friends, come by and you’ll receive field trip pricing at the door. No reservation is necessary

Wednesday, November 19. Classic Board Games and Buddies at VCPL 12 Points. 

Thursday, November 20-Saturday, November 22. Emma: A Pop Musical at Terre Haute South. 

Thursday, November 20. First day for MATTOON, IL Lightworks. Walk through on November 20th and drive through each night until December 28. 

Friday, November 21. Curious Kids: Balloons and Bots at VCPL Main. Ages 6-12: Is your little one ready for a parade? At Curious Kids, they can recreate the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! Start by decorating a balloon with a character from their favorite book, movie, or TV show, or with a unique design of their own. Then, engineer a device to keep their balloon suspended, just like the helium-filled characters that float over Broadway every November.

Friday, November 21. Bookworm Reading Buddy at VCPL 12 Points. Ages 4–6: Reading is more fun when you have a reading buddy! At Bookworm Reading Buddy, your little one can create their own stuffed companion to listen to storytime or practice reading aloud. 

November 21, 22, and 23. Alice in Wonderland produced by West Vigo High School Theater Program. 

Saturday, November 22. Collett Park Christmas WAlk. 9am-5pm. 

Saturday, November 22. Opening day of Canal Tree Farm. Come cut down your favorite Christmas tree or choose one that’s already cut for you. Need a wreath for your door? How about some little touches of fresh greenery in your home. Maybe a unique handmade gift. We have all that and more. Enjoy roasting marshmallows for s’mores over the fire or maybe some popcorn or hot chocolate. November 22 is the first day of our 2025 season but these opportunities are available every day we’re open.

November 22-November 29. FEZtival of Trees. Kick off the holidays with a week full of lights, decorated trees, treats, and family fun — all at the Zorah Shrine! Zorah Shrine – 420 N. 7th St, Terre Haute. Admission: $2 (ages 13+). Kids 12 & under: FREE. Tree tickets: $1 each

Saturday, November 22. Future Pomeroys Dance Clinic

Saturday, November 22. Live painting and launch party. Join Wabash Valley Jeep Junkies, Art Happens, and the 12 Points Historical District as we celebrate the return of a Terre Haute landmark, the Wings of Hope Memorial Mural. Originally created by local artist Jack Deckard as a tribute to Pink of Terre Haute, the Wings of Hope were the first mural ever installed in the district. Though the original wall is gone, its message of resilience, compassion, and community strength lives on. Now, the mural is being restored and reimagined to honor all who have faced or are facing breast cancer.

Saturday, November 22. Sesame Street’s Raising Kids in a Digital World at the Brazil Public Library. This 45-minute family workshop helps young children and caregivers explore healthy digital habits through story time, creativity, and movement.

Saturday, November 22. Jolly Market at Jolly Pines Tree Farm. Come get in the Holiday spirit at our Jolly Market!! This will kick off our 2025 Christmas season where we will have our Christmas trees, garland, decor, handmade wreaths, and other holiday decor, as well as our property will be lined with local businesses who are ready to show their talents! Many handmade vendors will be set up for your holiday shopping. We will have food trucks, complementary Hot Chocolate, and maybe Santa himself will be stopping by! Come feel the Magic of the season, and enjoy some local shopping with us.

Wednesday, November 26. Fun with Solar Critters at VCPL Main.

Thursday, November 27. Thanksgiving JAM 2025. It’s time for the annual Thanksgiving JAM!
This year, JAM is teaming up with the Miracle on 7th charity organization to help fill our local food pantries with non-perishable goods. This class will be donation-based, and 100% of the donations you make will circle back to our community.

Friday, November 28. Erasure Poetry at VCPL 12 Points. Try a new form of creative expression at Erasure Poetry. Use a marker to redact a printed page, revealing only the words that speak to you and shape a unique poem. No writing experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to play with language.

Friday, November 28. PARADE in Brazil. Cookies and hot chocolate will also be given away at the courthouse. Fireworks to follow in Forest Park. You can also get pictures with Santa in Forest Park throughout the season! 

Saturday, November 29. Christmas at the Family Farm in Center Point. Handcrafted gifts, crafts for kids, and complimentary cookies, spiced cider, and coffee.

Saturday, November 29. Alpacas and Friends Open Barn at the White Violet Center. Spend a few hours out on our farm with our alpacas, Farmer Tara and some of our favorite chickens! Don’t stay cooped up in the house after the holiday. Our Open Barn will bring fun and delight to the whole family, and it may even be educational, too. Don’t forget to dress for the weather! Boots or old shoes are recommended to wear in the barnyard. Meet at the White Violet Farm Store. Cost to attend is $7 per person, and children aged 3 and below are free. Your entrance fee acts as a donation for the continued care and support of our alpacas, chickens, and the White Violet Center.

Saturday, November 1. 4th Annual YMCA Inspiration Gala. The evening will include an elegant meal and cash bar, a silent auction and raffle, inspiration award recipients, and a musical performance by Richard Goodall. Funds will be raised through ticket sales and auction items at that event. All funds go directly to scholarships for our YMCA Programs, such as Childcare, Youth Sports, and Aquatics.

Saturday, November 1. Read Between the Felines at the Vigo County Public Library. Pounce on the purr-fect afternoon at Read Between the Felines! A whole clowder of curious kittens and cuddly cats from Ouabache Valley Felines and Friends will be ready to steal your heart, climb into your lap, and maybe even follow you home.

Sunday, November 2. Friends of the Library Book Sale at the VCPL Main. 

Tuesday, November 4. We Survived Book Club at VCPL Main. In Lauren Tarshis’ I Surived the Galveston Hurricane, 1900, eleven-year-old Charlie Miller had expected the early September storm to be like any other storm. He wasn’t the only one. Everyone in Galveston, a boomtown located on an island just off the southeastern tip of Texas, was used to storms, after all, and the best weather experts had declared that a hurricane would never hit the busy port city. Thursday, November 6. State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine presents: The Nutcracker. ‘Tis the season for making special memories with your family! Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, The Nutcracker will fill you with the holiday spirit. Starring the acclaimed State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine, this treasured fairytale follows a young girl’s journey through a fantasy world of fairies, princes, and an army of mice. Tchaikovsky’s beloved score is full of instantly recognizable holiday music, including “Waltz of the Flowers,” “Waltz of the Snowflakes,” and more.

Friday, November 7. Pints and Patriots: Military Trivia Show at Afterburner Brewing Company with VCPL. Ages 21 & Up: Do you know who the first Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army was during the Revolutionary War? Or what was the outcome of the US Navy SEALs’ Operation Neptune Spear in 2011? If you’re a fan of military history, grab a pint and celebrate veterans across the country with trivia and friends at Afterburning Brewing Company.

Saturday, November 8. Cold-Blooded Fun at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Discover how these fascinating creatures survive in the wild and what it really means to be “cold blooded.” Guests will learn about the important roles reptiles play in our ecosystem and may have the opportunity to touch and interact with some of these often-misunderstood animals in a safe, educational environment.

Saturday, November 8. Experience VR. Create intricate clockwork mechanisms, save a fantasy world, become a spy, or travel to distant planets with either the HTC Vive™ or the Meta Quest 2 VR headset. 

Sunday, November 9. Rose Music Ensembles: Fall Concert. Join all the Rose – Hulman Music Ensembles as they celebrate another season in Hatfield Hall! Featuring a wide variety of music genres and styles, you won’t want to miss this grand celebration of music and song at Hatfield Hall! This event is FREE and open to the public!

Tuesday, November 11. Veterans Day parade will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Participants will begin lineup at 8:00 am with a parade start time of 10:00am. We will hold an “All Participants” meeting on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 6:00 pm at the Marine Corps League, 3006 N. 16th St. Terre Haute.

From key terms, software tools, and the slicing process, you’ll follow along with step-by-step instructions that cover the basics of using Bambu® Studio, including how to find, edit, and prepare a simple design for print. Bring your own laptop or use one of the laptops available in Haute Studio. Materials will be provided.

Saturday, November 15. Con at the Crossroads. Whether you’re ready to set sail for the Grand Line, power up to Super Saiyan levels, or battle demons with a K-pop hit, prepare for all of your favorite fandoms across the multi-verse to collide at Con at the Crossroads! Get hands-on with fantastical activities, hear from local industry insiders at exciting panels, enjoy local artists’ fan art, and meet other cosplayers, creators, and fans of your favorite franchises! Featured Event!

Saturday, November 15. Each season of Girls on the Run comes to an end with a celebratory 5K. This closing event gives program participants of all abilities a tangible sense of accomplishment. Crossing the finish line instills confidence through completion and is a joyful moment program participants always remember! Everyone in our program receives a commemorative medal to celebrate this incredible achievement. Find out more here!
