Home of the Free: Wabash Valley Veterans Day Activities

Regardless of our politics or personal thoughts on how to express patriotism, Veterans Day encourages us to come together in celebration of the work and sacrifice of our veterans. Use this day to teach your children that Veterans Day isn’t just a day off of work and school–it’s a tribute to the men and women in our armed services!

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Operation Vanguard takes place from November 8-November 13. Operation Vanguard is a project to take members of our community who are dedicated to the plight of homelessness during National Homelessness Awareness Week and give them a taste of what it means to be without shelter and food. Immediately following the Veteran’s Day parade, we will begin 6 days of homelessness to raise funds to be used to serve Veterans in our community. It is also an event to raise awareness to the complexity and frequency of veteran homelessness in Vigo County as well as surrounding areas.
