When it comes to 4th of July events, fireworks literally tend to overshadow and steal the thunder from all other events. But there are many other ways to show your patriotic pride. In this post, we’re highlighting patriotic events that don’t require keeping the kids up way past their bedtimes to see a booming show in the sky!<\/p>\n

Exploding Firework Napkins, July 3, Terre Haute Children’s Museum<\/h3>\n

July 3. <\/strong>1:00 p.m. Hands-on Science: Exploding Firework Napkins at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum. Come celebrate the 4th of July with an explosive firework experiment. Included with admission<\/p>\n

Rubber Duck Regatta, July 4<\/strong><\/h3>\n

5:00 p.m. 2018 Wabash Valley Rubber Duck Regatta<\/a>. Join us as we release 15,000 rubber ducks into the Wabash River for a race to the finish line. Adopt a duck for $5. One lucky duck will receive $10,000! You need not be present to win.<\/p>\n

Fourth of July Parade,\u00a0<\/strong>Terre Haute, July 4<\/h3>\n

Frontier Day Parade. <\/a>9:45 am (Parade route:\u00a0 Starts at 4th & Wabash down to 9th Street circling around Hulman Center back to Wabash Avenue then back down to 4th St.)\u00a0Parade forms at 9:30 with the parade slated to begin at 9:45. Horsemen Costume Award presentation and Horse Show will follow at the Vigo County Fairgrounds.<\/p>\n

Wabash Valley Road Runner’s Club, The Mile, July 4<\/h3>\n

8:15 a.m. WVRR’s The Mile<\/a>. <\/strong>This year\u2019s race will be the Regional Championship Race for the RRCA! TIME: The 1st race starts at 8:15 a.m. and there will be 6 different heats. LOCATION: starts N. Brown Avenue near Linden Street and finishes at the ISU Memorial Stadium. All school team members (minimum 4 per team) must submit their applications together. NO RACE DAY TEAM entries.<\/p>\n

Vigo County Public Library, July 6, “What’s More American?”<\/h3>\n

4:00 p.m. First Friday: What’s More American?<\/a> At VCPL Main Branch. You’re invited to a bite-size All American backyard barbecue complete with a kiddie pool and grill for pretend play. Try your hand at indoor baseball as you snack on tiny treats. Don’t forget to grab a piece of apple pie.<\/p>\n

First Friday, Downtown Salutes, July 6<\/h3>\n

An evening in downtown Terre Haute to honor military veterans, active military and their families.<\/a> Enjoy a cookout by\u00a0RJL Solutions. Family fun at the\u00a0Terre Haute Children’s Museum,\u00a0Vigo County Public Library\u00a0&\u00a0Indiana State University Bookstore. Enjoy the art exhibits, booths and military vehicle displays. Shop and dine downtown too!<\/p>\n

First Friday at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum, Firework Science, July 6<\/h3>\n

5:00-8:00 p.m. Fireworks and science come together as you make fireworks in a jar and create your own fizzing black snake. Hands-on science is included with admission.<\/p>\n
