This event will vary each week from traditional story time, to art-based activities, to music-making, and everything in between!<\/p>\n

Fridays. <\/strong>10:30 a.m.\u00a0Ready to Read Storytime<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Vigo County Library West Branch.\u00a0Ages 0-5: Sing along to music, move your bodies with egg shakers and scarves, hear stories and participate in crafts or playtime. Parents and caregivers are invited to participate with their children during this story time.<\/p>\n

Fridays.\u00a0<\/strong>Bring A Friend Friday at\u00a0Vigo County YMCA<\/a>.\u00a0In July, YMCA members can bring a friend in for free! If your friend signs up, we will waive half of his or her joiner fee and give our member a free YMCA t-shirt!<\/p>\n

Fridays (12th, 19th, 26th)<\/strong>. 11:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Mom’s Day Out<\/a> at\u00a0Vigo County YMCA.\u00a0Extended Child Care will be offered to our members on Fridays throughout the summer to give our caregivers a break! (This service is offered to Y members only). Cost: $10 per family (Per date). Structured play for ages 12 weeks \u2013 12 years at the Y including tumbling, games, arts and crafts and more.<\/p>\n

This is an all levels class that focuses on breath and postures to help align, strengthen, and develop flexibility in the body. Featured Event: Taste Terre Haute<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"\"July 16-29. <\/strong>The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, along with a committee of local restaurant owners are excited to continue Taste Terre Haute for a fourth year in 2019<\/a>! Taste Terre Haute is inspired by similar events in larger cities such as Devour Downtown in Indianapolis. Taste Terre Haute will run for two weeks; July 15-28 2019.<\/p>\n

The event will highlight the variety of restaurants in the Wabash Valley and showcase their unique offerings. Every participant will be asked to offer a \u201cdeal\u201d aka their own \u201ctaste\u201d to diners, whether that is a special menu, free dessert, specialty cocktail, percentage off a meal; the specifics are up to each individual restaurant.<\/p>\n

July 16-28<\/strong>.\u00a011:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.\u00a0To the Moon & Beyond<\/a>.\u00a0Take a giant leap to the moon as the Terre Haute Children\u2019s Museum celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on our closest neighbor in the universe. See and handle samples of moon rocks from NASA brought back from another Apollo mission. Discover how the moon was formed, and how the return of humans to the moon in the near future will launch us deeper into the solar system. Use tools and techniques from NASA and, perhaps, start a child toward a career that is out of this world.<\/p>\n

July 16-17.\u00a0<\/strong>Wabash Valley Youth Leadership Conference<\/a>. Youth will enjoy a two-day overnight stay at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Students either currently in or entering middle school can attend this event.\u00a0The cost is $35 a student which includes all meals, housing, and activities.<\/p>\n

Tues July 16.\u00a0<\/strong>2:00 p.m.\u00a0Be Brave, Be Bold, and Raise Your Hand!<\/a> at\u00a0VCPL Main Library. Do you raise your hand in class? How does it feel to raise your hand? Girls are invited to learn about the “Raise Your Hand” book and movement created by Girl Scout Alice Tapper.<\/p>\n

Tues July 16 and Tues July 23.\u00a0<\/strong>3:00 p.m.\u00a0Readers’ Theatre<\/a> at\u00a0VCPL West Library.\u00a0Ages 10 and up: Learn the basic elements of theatre in a fun and relaxed setting.\u00a0 Readers’ Theatre requires no props or memorization and is perfect for kids who want to get a feel for performance.\u00a0Week 1 will involve choosing 2-3 short scripts and assigning parts – every child will have the opportunity to perform. Friends and family are invited for a performance at the end of Week 2.<\/p>\n

Tues July 16.\u00a0<\/strong>6:00 p.m.\u00a0Watch This! Teens: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy<\/a> at\u00a0VCPL Main Library.\u00a0Ages 12-19: Mere seconds before the Earth is to be demolished by an alien construction crew, journeyman Arthur Dent is swept off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher penning a new edition of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.<\/p>\n

Tues July 16.\u00a0<\/strong>6:30 p.m.\u00a0\u00a0A Book Club on the Run<\/a>.\u00a0This will be Terre Haute’s first running book club meeting! The selection is “North: Finding My Way While Running the Appalachian Trail” by Scott and Jenny Jurek. Club will start with a run from the Deming Park Pool parking lot at 6:30pm, with book club to follow at 7:15 at one of the shelters by the play ground.<\/p>\n

Using cardboard, special tools and other recycled materials construct a spaceship that can fly through outer space. Add special gadgets and tools to your ship for an intergalactic voyage. This program is presented by the Terre Haute Children’s Museum.\u00a0Registration Required.<\/p>\n

Fri July 19.<\/strong> Family Fun Night.\u00a0<\/a>The Emmanuel Church in West Vigo is inviting everyone in the community to a Family Fun Night, on Friday, July 19th, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, in the Community Life Center behind the church. There will be a Bounce House, ping pong, foosball, air hockey, board games, card games, popcorn, snow cones, ice cream, cookies, and drinks. This is open to parents, children, and families of all ages, shapes, and sizes. There is no charge to attend. \"\"Sat July 20.\u00a0<\/strong>11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.\u00a0Apollo 11 Lunar Landing Anniversary at Terre Haute Children’s Museum.<\/a> This is the actual day that two men stepped on the moon 50 years ago. On the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, Saturday, July 20, there will be special presentations by the I-GEMS team, Holly Hudson, recently retired planetarium director at Terre Haute South High School, and other local experts in astronomy and space exploration. The presentations will take place from 11 a.m. \u2013 3 p.m.<\/p>\n

Wed July 24.\u00a0<\/strong>6:00 p.m.\u00a0Kindness Rock Movement<\/a>.\u00a0Lost and Found Wabash Valley Suicide Prevention Coalition has worked together as a community to paint rocks. Every rock has a positive mental health message to decrease suicide. Please come out and help us pass out positive mental health rocks.<\/p>\n

Sat July 27.\u00a0<\/strong>9:30-10:15 a.m.\u00a0Baby Explorer: On the Move! at Terre Haute Children’s Museum Who loves to crawl, climb, spin, and explore? Babies! We will have an engaging space for exploring movement and fun. Baby Explorer is for ages 0- 2 and their caregiver.<\/p>\n

Sat July 27.\u00a0<\/strong>10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.\u00a0Intro to Blacksmithing<\/a> at\u00a0Fowler Park: Pioneer Village-Blacksmith Shop.\u00a0Ages 18+. $60 \/ person.\u00a0Work with experienced blacksmiths to learn how to operate a blacksmith forge, understand the parts of an anvil, and the uses for various hand tools in the blacksmith shop.<\/p>\n

Sat July 27.<\/strong>\u00a010:50 p.m.\u00a0WVRR Midnight River Run<\/a> along the Wabash River in Fairbanks Park.\u00a0This unique event \u2013 with tiki torches lit on the race course \u2013 is a night race with the one-mile fun run\/race beginning at 10:50 p.m. and the 5K at 11:15 p.m. The prices range from $8 to $20 depending on the race and t-shirt selection.<\/p>\n

Sun July 28.\u00a0<\/strong>2:00 p.m. MakerSPACE Camp<\/a> at\u00a0VCPL Main Library.\u00a0Combine the thrill of space with the fun of making. Use tools and materials to create projects which are out of this world. MakerSPACE Camp is for all ages.<\/p>\n
