I’ve lived in Terre Haute long enough to know that some people think that Indiana State’s homecoming weekend is just an excuse for college students to drink too much and walk\/stumble down Wabash Ave. The Walk<\/a> (an unofficial ISU tradition) is legendary. But homecoming weekend is more than a bar crawl. In fact, as a parent, I look forward to it each and every year.<\/p>\n

So what happens during homecoming that’s fun for kids and families? I’m glad you asked! Let me share a few highlights.<\/p>\n

Indiana State University Homecoming Events<\/h2>\n

For starters, there’s the ISU homecoming parade<\/strong>. We biked\u00a0in the parade\u00a0a few years ago, and our girls have been asking about it ever since!<\/p>\n

2018 ISU Homecoming Parade<\/h4>\n

Saturday, October 13<\/h4>\n

Blue & White Parade: 9 a.m.<\/h5>\n

The 2018 Blue and White Homecoming Parade will begin at 9th and Cherry streets in downtown Terre Haute. The parade will run west on Wabash Avenue to 5th Street and will end at the intersection of 5th and Chestnut streets.<\/p>\n

\"Biking<\/p>\n

After the parade is over, alumni, students, faculty, staff, guests, fans, and friends are invited to Tent City. Tent City is surprisingly kid-friendly! You can expect kids to enjoy the games, music, activities, face painting, crafts, and an abundance of food to sample and enjoy. Most (maybe even all!) of these activities are free.<\/p>\n

Hint: Tent City is ALWAYS colder than I expect it to be. Dress warmly!<\/p>\n
