Last year, a reader was nice enough to recommend that\u00a0I check out Matter & Motion at Ivy Tech. To be honest, the title “Matter and Motion” didn’t exactly scream “toddler-friendly” to me (I was expecting a day of activities dedicated to advanced science topics. It is<\/em> hosted at the community college, after all). But there were plenty of activities for my girls (ages 1 and 3, at the time) to enjoy!<\/p>\n

\"Matter<\/p>\n

Like most kid, my girls love animals. The highlight for them may have been the small petting zoo area.<\/p>\n

(Look! They brought Li’l Sebastian over for a visit from Pawnee!)<\/p>\n

Or maybe my girls’\u00a0favorite part was touring the ambulance and fire truck. All toddlers love fire trucks, right?!<\/p>\n

\"Things<\/p>\n

My girls\u00a0would have been happy if we had never even made it in the building. But inside\u00a0of Ivy Tech, the kids got balloons from a clown, made crowns, went on a simulated roller coaster ride, took their stuffed animals to the teddy bear clinic, and snagged some Chik-Fil-A coupons. (It’s possible that my kids didn’t get excited about the coupons, but their mama sure did. Free CFA kids’ meal? Score!)<\/p>\n

\"Fun<\/p>\n

They also had the chance to be fingerprinted by the Sheriff’s Department, but they declined that\u00a0offer. And by “declined” I mean that my three-year-old threw\u00a0a screaming fit and my one-year-old refused to even enter the room. (I hope they never\u00a0need to approach a policeman for help anytime soon! If so, we’re in big trouble.)<\/p>\n

Matter and Motion is\u00a0the chance for the community to come out and see what is happening this year at Ivy Tech. It’s completely FREE<\/strong>, and everyone is invited to attend! There will be food vendors on-site for lunch purchases. Come and go as you please.<\/p>\n

Ivy Tech Community College-Wabash Valley Region will host the 2017 Matter & Motion on Saturday, April 8th, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.<\/strong> at its main campus, 8000 S. Education Drive, Terre Haute, Indiana.<\/p>\n

Matter & Motion is a free, family-oriented, open-to-the-public, fast-paced day full of hands-on activities and demonstrations intended to entertain children and adults alike. The purpose is to give those who attend a glimpse into Ivy Tech\u2019s programs. The learning activities involve more than 35 organizations\/programs and give event-goers a sense of the community college\u2019s varied offerings<\/p>\n
