One thing I love about writing for\u00a0Haute Happenings is that it gives me the chance\u00a0introduce you to random places in the area that may be new to you and your friends.<\/p>\n

This week, I thought I’d tell you a bit about a secluded and unique restaurant that’s near Brazil: Big Willy’s Lake House. <\/a>If you’ve been in Terre Haute awhile, you may remember that this was once just “The Lake House.”<\/p>\n

This restaurant has changed owners, but we’re glad to hear that this local gem has recently reopened. \"Kids<\/a><\/p>\n

If you decide to visit The Lake House and feel like you’ve gotten lost in the middle of nowhere, you’re probably close. \ud83d\ude09 The Lake House is on a secluded road off of US-40E. Here’s a map<\/a> if you’d like more specific directions.<\/p>\n

Part of the appeal of The Lake House is definitely its isolation. Few restaurants in the area are so secluded and peaceful.<\/p>\n

We’ve visited The Lake House for date night (it’s a steak house with a bar that offers a variety of drink selections) and for family dinners with the kids.<\/p>\n

I LOVE visiting when it’s warm enough to eat outside on the deck. The deck area will give you a great view of the lake (thus the restaurant’s name!) and possibly a visit from the restaurant’s resident golden retriever.<\/p>\n

Also, the outside area gives kids a chance to explore and burn off energy while they wait for their food.<\/p>\n

For larger parties and events, there is also a banquet area.<\/p>\n
