Sensory Friendly Shows at Showplace 12

Did you know that Terre Haute Showplace 12 offers sensory friendly shows? These special showings are great for kids–particularly those who might have trouble sitting still or might be sensitive to noise and stimulation.

At these shows, the lights are turned up. The sound is turned down. And audience members are invited to dance, sing, shout, or walk around! Parents and families can enjoy the show without worrying about being a disruption.

Sensory friendly shows and movies in Terre Haute

The idea for the program began with a request from a parent with an autistic child for a special screening at AMC Columbia Mall 14 in Columbia, MD. More than 300 children and parents attended the first screening. The program is now offered nationwide at select locations. One such location is here in Terre Haute–Showplace 12! You can read more HERE.

They turn the lights up, and turn the sound down, so you can get up, dance, walk, shout or sing!

They are now expanding our Sensory Friendly Film program to four showings per month.

  • The second and fourth Tuesday and Saturday.
  • Family-friendly movies will continue to show Saturdays, starting at 10am local time
  • We’ve added Tuesday showings at 7pm local time that may appeal to others on the autism spectrum.
