The BUG (“Bringing Up Grades”) program is in all 18 Vigo County School Corporation elementary schools and 4 Sullivan elementary schools.

At the end of the year, every child who received a BUG award is entered into a drawing to win a free bike and helmet. Your pancake day money will help provide 22 bikes and helmets to local students!

For the 18 schools in Vigo County, there is a total of 6359 students.  2309 of those students earned at least one award and 854 of those awards were all A’s.

All in, about 36% of all students earn awards from Kiwanis! That’s a significant educational contribution, and Kiwanis wants award, reward, and encourage even more students this year.

For older students, Kiwanis gives one scholarship each year for a graduating senior.

Additionally, Geography Bowl is for middle school children and is held annually in the spring. Schools from all over the Wabash Valley participate! March 10th, 2020 will be the 30th annual Geography Bowl, and the winner receives a traveling plaque for the school. Each participant also receives an award!

The local Kiwanis club was founded in 1920 and is one of the oldest clubs in Indiana.

When you eat pancakes at pancake day, you’re funding these events and awards.
