First things first: after I spent far too long on that collage up above, I realized that the heading “too little to wrap?” positioned right next to a picture of my baby might be a little misleading. No, I wasn’t trying to wrap my child! Are you kidding? What kind of person jumps to that conclusion? (Obvious answer: yours truly.)

With that disclaimer out of the way, on to the fun stuff.

Have you decorated homemade wrapping paper?  It’s not a particularly novel idea, but my girls (both of them!) were so engaged in our decorating sessions, that I just had to share. I’d feel bad if you missed out.

We used the roll of white paper from our easel (like this) and a roll of brown. I dare you to wrap with the brown paper and NOT sing a little “brown paper packages tied up with string! These are a few of my favvvvvvvvvvorite things!” I’d tell you to summon your inner Julie Andrews, but I suppose your inner Carrie Underwood could come out and sing too.

We turned ours into a collage by adding glued on pom poms, crepe paper, glitter, and textured stickers.

If I’m being perfectly honest, then I have to admit that peeling the dried glue off of her fingers was the highlight for the three-year-old.

My one-year-old really liked the stamps and dot markers.

This is a great way to involve babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in the gift wrapping process since they most likely lack the fine motor skills necessary to do the actual wrapping.

Our homemade version is way prettier than the other wrapping paper we have on hand this year. Have you seen the pins like this one where you can hang wrapping paper up near the ceiling? Well, we did that this year, and it was great! Or it would have been great had we not hung it in the rafters in the basement under a toilet that flooded and covered our ENTIRE basement with a few INCHES of water. The water must have splashed on the paper as it poured down.

My “Nothing if Not Intentional” motto fails me when it comes to wrapping gifts. I’m the world’s worst wrapper (and rapper, but that’s an entirely different post). I took a gift to a play group party today in a trash bag. An honest-to-goodness trash bag. Like I said, worst wrapper ever. I’m happy to have my girls’ help in making my presents prettier this year.
